What do I get for the next bike?

Haha. I'd love that. I trade you my jeep for both bikes. Stratton and I will be there too if you want to get lunch or something.

I don't need a Jeep, but thanks... :p

We'll see how it turns out, a few of us from GJ are riding dual sports to Moab and then back. You guys have lunch plans yet? I don't know where we'll be yet, but I'm thinking the Moab Brewery.

At noonish, we will likely be watching the girls run the Moab 5 mile race.
Unless you think they'll finish before then?

I've been informed in no uncertain terms by the wife that it's her trip I'm coming on and not the other way around.

Fair enough, because she follows me on all my adventures.

In other news I went on a ride up Buckland Ridge and in the snow a bit.
I love this bike, FI makes all the difference in the world (No hiccups anywhere in the RPM range) and the clutch is rad. I can start it in any gear, and it's very predictable when it freewheels at idle. It's almost like it predicts when I'd naturally pull in the clutch rolling downhill sections.
I was able to climb stuff more confidently, it wasn't as much that I could do things I normally couldn't, it's just I could do them smoother.
The clutch and steering damper just made everything take just a little less effort.
And the bike seems so much lighter than my old one, not only that but it feels like the mass is more central. I really can move the bike around easier with less effort. I can see this being a huge benefit in long races.
It doesn't just rip the tire out from under me either it's just smooth big power bottom to top.
I'm loving the new suspension too.
Also I figured out if I just crack the throttle barely when I kick it, it starts first or second kick almost always.

Syrsly? I may be interested, I love the 300 but not sure if a 2 stroke is my thing. I really liked riding your bike up AFC.

That would be cool! I wouldn't hesitate for a second selling this one to a friend. I may be kicking myself later, but after having my last 2 KTMs with open chamber forks and PDS, I'd like to try close chamber and linkage. The pros and cons of each will probably cancel each other out, but only one way to find out.

Moab, eh? Ought to take the YZF and ride while she's running...

 Good to hear you're loving it, glad you were able to step up to a newer bike and get something that works so well!

I really want a KTM 350 XCF-W, but they're hard to find under $7k. With the big bore on your 250, I think it's a better, similar bike. I should PM you...

The plan is to ride after they finish the race. We have Ty's little boy to watch during it. And actually if Peligroso's seperated shoulder feels better he will be down there too.

The bike is just so rad. I freaking love it.

Glad you're enjoying the new bike, I'm a big fan of Yamaha after riding my dad's bikes. They're solid as could be. He's got a 2005 YZ450F and also a 2009 YZ450F that he picked up for a killer deal right before Christmas. He's having a really tough time deciding which one to sell. It would make sense to keep the newer one but the problem is there's absolutely nothing wrong with the 05..

Sweet pics you posted up too! I'm surprised there's still that much snow up there, especially on Skyline Drive.

Some people like the aluminum frame better. The 05 is probably faster.

The 09 corners better but it's not a night and day difference. The main difference is in the powerband, they both have plenty of power but the 05 is a low-mid range monster. I was scared to death to ride that bike when he first got it! The 09 rolls on so smooth you feel like you're going slow until you realize you're over-jumping everything.

It's going to be a tough decision. He's headed out to Jordan River next week (assuming they're open) and is going to ride them back to back and hopefully make a decision.

One thing I've noticed with both bikes is how awesome the suspension is. The forks are neither harsh nor too soft, they are absolutely perfect on both bikes. I'm a big fan.

How do you like that light? I have a similar one made by similar one. Mine is by acerbis and is the ddh model I think.

That's what it is. One is a pecil beam. One is a flood.
It works well for what it is. It would work better without the stone guard. I haven't tried a trail at night
With it yet. The backs of the light bulbs are not covered, they are clear and shine back at you, but that's easy to modify.

Apparently when I rode it in the snow I rode with too low of air pressure and cut off the valve stem.
I had to swap it before my ride Friday night in Moab.
I put in a new heavy duty tube.

I love having a plated bike, So much fun to ride on the road between trails.

I can get you the IMS tank for $205.95, the Acerbis tank for $184.79 or the Acerbis .6 gal Aux tank for $79.59 if you're interested. All show in-stock so you could have them on Wednesday.

Does anyone have an auxiliary front tank? I worry about running out of fuel in this next race and don't really want to drop $250 on an oversize IMS tank that I'll only use occasionally.
Two 1 liter bottle work great and are cheap for those times you need them. I always dump them in as soon as there is room

That's actually a great suggestion. Once you dump the 1 liters in, you can crush them down and throw them in your pack.
