Lets say you have a really nicely built rig but you did not build it yourself. Can you really say.....

It doesent matter if you have help on a trail or go around a ledge or two. What matters is if you had a good time.

well, I'll be getting a lot of help and paid fabwork done on my new project, whatever I don't have the tools for, and I'll be saying that I built it with considerable talented help from whoever has a hand in it.
Trailwise, if you don't drive up the whole thing w/out help, it is a lie to say anything other than that. I don't know why it would be a big deal to someone to admit that they couldn't schwang the whole thing yet. So what? Get some lockers and go back!

My point is, why worry about what others claim they can do. Why rain on their parade. If they feel some sense of acomplishment because their rig was on a trail, let them. If someone is proud of their rig even though they paid to have it built, then let them. If you care even a little bit then ask yourself why, because there is really no reason why you should.

I've got to respectfully disagree. That kind of thinking breeds a culture of half-ass self-congratulatory fools. The trail is the trail, not "the trail...w/bypasses and straps". If you were rockclimbing, and someone pulled you up the hard parts, would you say you climbed the route? Factually, you wouldn't be able to. There is no difference if it's a truck getting pulled.

I don't really care all that much though, I've usually gotten the whole story upon asking "you drove the whole thing?" and it's not like anyone's giving testimony in court or something. But pushed to the wall I can't agree with fudging on trail completion like that. :mad2: :ugh:

Care that they drove the trail or not? No. Care that they are insulting me by lying to me? Sure.

I couldn't care less honestly. I just wondered if there was a standard for "driving a trail" or not

The one thing I'd really like to see come out of this thread is for RME to collectively conquer the correct spelling of the word conquer. ;)

  That made this thread worth reading...
