i am not sayin 205 205 205 becuase i have one, but i honestly heard the 205 was stronger than an atlas........sure the 1.98 or whatever it is low range sucks but isnt it stronger??i mean you guys are talkin about internal parts

The 205 is definately a strong t-case, but I would be surprised if it is as strong as an atlas. The gears may be as strong (I don't know), but I don't think a 205 comes with front and read 32 spline outputs, for one.

Okay, the 4x virgin here has questions, gonna SAS my little 4x, and run a ual t case setup. I see lotsa of suggeestions here, but what flavor is a 205, or an Atlas?
e.g. what rig do I steal out of at my local boneyard??
Or is the one in the donor 82 Toy 4x p/u good enough, only have 100 hp/130 torq

the toy case if prolyl good enough, you have to buy the atlas (aftermarket, never offered from the factory from anywhere, about $2300) the 205 can be found in a veriety of vehicles from ford to chevy to dodge even, they are also found in 1/2Ts and 3/4Ts and 1Ts...so you have a CHANCE of finding one in almost any older pickup thats 4wd...you just have to know how to id them...

you can even find divorced 205's too...
i have always wanted to throw a divorced 205 behind another case and use it as a crawl box. it would be cheap and pretty easy too.

that has got to be one of the cheapest ways to get a doubler if you have the length;)

which "kicker" are you running? I got a "kicker 2" mated to a Toy, I want to regear one of them, can't decide which one to do

Their are 205's that came with both front and rear 32 spline outputs and the one's that didn't you can swap the 32 spline output in place of the smaller splined output shaft..

Well there you go, the 205 is the best transfer case in the world. Who the hell needs an Atlas with its usable gear ratios and flat clockability? :D :p

I custom build me an NV271. I had to make me an new input shaft to fit it behind my build 4L80 trans that sits behind an Cummins.
The only thing I do not like about the 271 is the wimpy 32 spline front output shaft and no PTO . I think I will make me an 34spl 1.75" shaft for the front, so it matches the rear output shaft. My axle pinion dia 1.8". so my t case output shaft is still little smaller.

After this coming week I will have TeraLow 3.07 gears in my stock Isuzu Tcase. With my 3.77 first gear and 4.56 in diffs, my clutch/drivetrain will thank me big time...

This sure does bring a new twist to the comparo!! It would seem that it would be pretty comparable. Still sounds like alot of $$$ and you can only get it in a right side drop... looks like the Atlas is still ahead.

not necesarily...if you want a drivers drop you have to get a clocking kit, plus adapters, plus new 4:1 gear set and you start getting pretty close to the cost of an atlas...plus with the atlas you have many different options for input and outputs...

**plus a life time warranty**
