Generally a shock is valved different on rebound and compression.

Steering stabilizer is valved equally in both directions.

Shocks aren't built to be ran horizontally, steering stabilizers are. Also, shocks can be valved differently for their compression & rebound, where I would imagine you'd want the same valving both ways for a steering stabilizer. I wouldn't run shocks as stabilizers or the other way, if that's what you're getting at.

Not so much a no-no as it just won't ride very well. It will be very squishy because the stabilizer has a lot softer valving, and is a 50/50 valving. Where a shock is more like 70/30. Creating more damping force against the down pressure, while allowing less resistance to allow the shock to return to ride position.

I wouldn't recommend it. Besides, Steering Stabilizers are usually not quite as stout as a shock and could break easier.

I always found that steering stabilizers were much stiffer than most shocks... But other than that I agree 100%!:p

I've had the steering stabilizers on the rear for two days now and it is actually a better ride than before. However the shocks that were on there were leaking and going bad so I do feel a difference. I guess I'll run these for awhile and see what happens. I got the stabilizers on a real good deal so I figure why not try it. This also my daily driver. I've always wondered if this was a good idea not so I will find out and let you know. Thanks
