Which rig next for sixstring

I'm having a tough time deciding if I want to throw the 35's on, or the 33's. It's got 285/75/16s on it right now, which measure out to about 32.7 (but they're warn, so more like 32"). I either need 4.56's and 33's, or swap my 4.88's and 35's. I do know I want an OME lift at least. I think I'm leaning towards the 35's/4.88 route.

Here are a few pics I took this morning.

Jealous! I've been wanting a third gen since hs when my friend got a brand new 01. First time I saw a hood scoop on something other than mustangs or camaros. I love the black on black on black on black on black on black on black on that rig. If you ever need a baby sitter for him or her, let us know.

My .02 is I think the 35s will look good after the OME.

and my only negative aesthetic criticism (that's not even worth .02) is that front bumper looks like a wicked underbite :D

I don't feel like I need more height necessarily, but I do like the ride of the OME kits far better than stock. So I'm definitely going with an OME lift.

Nice. x'2 on sticking with 33's.

May I suggest that you do away with the power antenna and do the tacoma whip antenna mod. The power antennas have a tendency to fail or get snapped off by tree limbs.

??????????????????????? Explain

The Highlander edition 4Runners are known by the low profile black fender flares, hood scoop, and OE rear locker. They did also have a slightly taller coil than most other 4runner packages, but 15yrs later that's hardly noticed if at all. Toyota dropped the "Highlander" edition title, called it a "Sport" and introduced the smaller compact SUC - the Toyota Highlander.

It's a common misconception that all true "Sport" 4runners have an OE e-locker. The e-locker was not a standard item once the Highlander edition evolved into the Sport; there was never a TRD package 4tunner, like there was TRD Tacoma which did have a standard e-locker. The 4runner line is weird that way.

It seems like you're trying to stay practical with this rig, so why take the time to tub and cut to fit the 35's? You've said that you won't need them, so the 33's should be all you'll need, right? It looks like they'll fit into the wheel wells with little to no trimming, so why make it harder on yourself?

If you don't need to regear for the 33's, why not put them on and see if you ever find yourself in need of the 35's. I doubt you will if you continue on your current wheeling trends. Keep them around until you realize that you either need them or don't.

FWIW, 285/75 16 tires are more true to 33" than any 33" is generally. Most 33s measure 32.5 or less. So going to a 33 may actually be a smaller tire than it has now. Unless you plan to turn this in to a crawler, I say leave the tires you have now and enjoy it. Even though the power is fine on those, going to a 35" may leave you wanting in that department. Plus you'll kill your mileage too going to a larger tire. If you plan to just do some car camping, etc then those tires are more than sufficient.
