I do all my video editing with the free gopro editing software called Cineform...it is easy to understand and easy to use. It is far less powerful than Premier Elements which I am learning right now but it will do all the things you originally requested.

So I'm finally getting around to using Windows Movie Maker to edit our Hawaii trip. I was wondering if someone knows how to turn off the sound on my clips, so that you don't hear it and the music I have installed at the same time. Together they sound like a jumbled mess. I've seen that you can emphasis one or the other, but you have to have it set that way for the whole video. At some points I'd like to have our voices heard, but at other times, music only and nothing else. Thanks. Oh, fyi, this program is just about perfect for what I'm doing. Very easy and it's turning out pretty good. But my video is almost an HOUR long! That's from about 4 hours of clips from the go pro.

Go to EDIT and in the upper left hand corner there is Video Volume. You can turn it down or off.
Also on editing the speed on M.M. . To get slow motion , I went online and get the upgrade to slow down/speed up clips but my computer is a few years old so you may already have it.
If theres something you see you don't have , you can get it by going online . I think I found it thru the help section.

I just barely finished a 45min DVD of off-road, racing and local stuff. I had 6+ years of footage to go through. Lets just say I spent about a year plus putting this together in my free, free time .
Getting ready to start DVD # 2 .
