Why didn't they call me sooner !

Last night I got a call from my son in law telling me to come down to his grandpa's place that they were cleaning out. I hurried right down because grandpa used to be a Jeep mechanic for many years (Hayes Brothers and other places). I knew he had a ton of old Jeep parts because I had seen a glimpse of what was in his sheds and garage years ago. Grandpa is 97 and living with his daughter and they haven't told him they sold his house and scrapped all of his Jeep parts. Since he grew up through the depression he never threw anything away and there were boxes and boxes of old Jeep parts, bolts, tools and shop chemicals. Unfortunately they told me that they took a bunch of the heavy metal stuff to the scrap metal place....... there went the gears, lockers, axle parts, transfer cases etc that I saw years ago. If they had only known what they trashed. I did manage to fill up my Jeep with a lot of small stuff they didn't throw away so now I have a bunch of sorting to do. I did save a bunch of his old shop manuals and tools. I will need to see if I can track down part numbers because I rescued many new old stock Willys and Jeep parts still in original boxes. Unfortunately last night was the last time the family could take stuff because the new owner is taking over today. I hope he has a garage sale rather than junking it all because I had to leave a ton of stuff behind that wouldn't fit in my Jeep. I just wish they had called me sooner.

UNSTUCK

But stuck more often.
Why not head back over there and talk to the new owner. If it ends up being junk to him you could do you both a favor.

I may have to enlist some help from those who have old Jeeps to identify some of the parts. I have a box of old lights that look like old CJ lights and a box of brand new gas caps that look like they came on some really old Jeeps. I have a box of old ignition switches, solenoids, column mount turn signal boxes, and a lot of seals, gaskets and bearings. Once I get it sorted out I'll post some pictures. Maybe I can help Greg's old Willys look a bit newer.

Well I started sorting through the boxes and have found some interesting stuff. I found a 50's era Willys horn button, lots of muffler clamps, fuel filters, bearings, seals, there is a like new wagoneer dash cluster cover, tranny filters, valve cover gaskets, ujoints (including some half sized ones), brake parts etc, etc.... The willys horn button looks like this one I found online. Since he rebuilt drivetrains I also found a bunch of tcase gaskets, shims, and needle bearings.
