The topo file on the CD is in fact NG TOPO! However I'll need to double check that it is actually the program they are using to catalog the info on their end. Most land agencies are using premium softwares and GPS devices far more accurate than our consumer units. I'll be in contact shortly about your assignment Jeff. There is a bunch missing in the sections I've spot checked.

I would love to have Jeff's question answered if you get a minute Todd. How does the SP&R listing these trails relate to them having any legality in the eyes of the USFS or BLM? The documentation that comes with the CD blatently says that the BLM/FS could make changes to their trails. I guess I'm not understanding the hierarchy of these trails and how it affects their future legality?

Take for instance Constrictor, it likely will never classify as an RS2477 route, so our beef is getting the BLM to add it to their trail inventory, not the SP&R no? Or the Newfoundland Mountain routes, the BLM already clearly has them claimed an open to OHV travel, and I can't ever see Tooele County claimng them as an RS2477, is the state making moves to claim these routes? They seem to be doing nothing to far more dire trail accesses ie Paria, Junes Bottom, Sids Mountain, or the dozens of other trails that are closed, how do these trail maps play into the system??

Also on these CD's (4x4 version 2) can we assume SP&R only lists routes open to full-size use? Or will these still show trails that are single track only listed on this CD? For example Mineral Fork is listed as a 4x4 route here (at least not shown as ATV/moto only), however this hasn't been the case since the 90's. Is SP&R or the State of Utah actively persuing this??? Salt Lake County was for about 3 minutes and then dropped it from their RS2477 claim. How do these play into the system??
These are damn good questions. Lets set up a meeting with Dale. I am out of town for a couple of weeks but I will call him and let you know.

Thanks Todd, we will be working on this in the meantime and hopefully have some beta by the time we meet. Let me know when you've got a meeting set up.

4. Now start working on memberships, advertising and improving the Compass. Start by assigning x amount of expired names to each BOD member. It would be as simple as generating a report, copy/past a list of queries to said BOD member and have them call between now and the next BOD meeting.

1. This is so basic recruiting 101 in any business that is trying to create membership or even customers for that matter. Create a LRL (Lead Refinement List). Have a name and then either a phone number or address, preferrably both. Annotate each time contact was made. Fact: 28% are sold on the first contact, 43% are sold on the first follow up, rarely is anyone sold on the second follow up, and 29% on average are sold on the third follow up. After initial contact make the initial follow up within 1 to 3 days, second follow up 1 to 3 weeks, and the 3rd 1 to 3 months. Your membership will improve greatly. Those that you don't get on the third follow up suspense them out for six months and have the president personally call them.

2. Make business cards for the association with the associations website annotated on it. Send x amount of number of business cards to each current assoc member. Ask them to find that many folks to give the cards to for referrals. Have a checks and balance system to track referrals by member. Solicit some of the aftermarket companies for some really sweet prize for the member who has the most referrals.

3. The biggy-We have a potentially really big rally coming up at the capital in August yet I've been on now 8 Utah websites and there is only mention of said event on one of them. Create what we in the military refr to as an alert roster. When we have something such as this event or an emrgency clean up such as we did in the swell a few years back, the land manager of the assoc contacts all BOD's. They inturn have a set amount of club land users to contact. The local club land users then have their own alert roster to call. And I mean call them, pick up the darn phone and call, not email. IN order to do this you would have to make one master blaster list of all clubs in the state and I'm talking just 4x4, include ATV, RTV, Motocross, Trailbike riders, sprocketheads, snowmobilers, horseman, I'm talking the works. If you want to get a head start one club that I'm in began creating such a list, I'm not sure at what state it is at the moment but you could check with the president of the Utah4x4club. You do this not only will your membership grow but you will have huge turnouts at rallies, which ten domino's down to bigger press coverage, which in turn puts more pressure on the knucklehead politicians to fight to keep our access. The Assoc should get on this NOW, emergency meeting.
