Wimpy Jeep in Moab

My son wanted to go down to Moab for his birthday and do some jeeping and hiking. We didn't have anyone to go with so we took the mall crawling (W)impy (J)eep for a smooth ride. On Friday we did the Box Car Bridge trail, the anticline overlook, the canyonlands overlook and the needles overlook. On Saturday we hiked to Corona Arch then ran Long Canyon. We then went out and went to Spring Canyon Bottoms, Secret Spire, Delenbaugh Tunnel, Rainbow Terraces and out to Dripping Springs. These were scenic rides for the most part but some did have some more challenging stuff (at least for a mall crawler). The weather was perfect and we had a great time. Here are a few pictures.

UNSTUCK

But stuck more often.
Nothing wrong with a mall crawler out in the dirt. It just gave me the idea for maybe a more formal Mall Crawler Only Moab trip. Bring out the families, do some camping and check out the easier trails that we often overlook. I'd be up for it in our stock Nissian Armada.

That'd be fun. I've got a stock Explorer that would love to come along. Start a thread!

Count us in. We picked up a WJ a couple weeks ago and I've always wanted to do some more of the scenic stuff rather than the same old trails in the YJ.

If you get something going let me know. I would love to take the TJ out.

could I bring our mini-van? thats my mall crawler unless a f350 will fit everywhere on the trails

The truck could do all of them and the minivan could do some of them. I wouldn't try a minivan on Delenbaugh tunnel, rainbow terraces, Canyonlands overlook or parts of the boxcar bridge trail.

We had a great time, unfortunately we had to come home.

Very nice!

Gets me thinking as well. Haven't had a family Moab trip in a long time. Gonna have to change that soon .

Just bought an '04 wj and put a 2" bb on it and am dying to take it and a liberty in there. I have been on those trails with an ext cab sierra, old suburban, fullsize bronco and atvs. It's beautiful country and worth a look thats for sure. Next time go on out to Spring Canyon Point for an incredible view of the Green River and a geocache.

Well it looks like there could be a great deal of people wanting to go. So how about putting it in writing and setting a date to go. Im in for most any weekend late in the month. So how about something like the end of March. anytime after the 20th.

3746 Was taken at the Needles Overlook and the other three were taken at the Canyonlands Overlook. These overlooks are in the Canyon Rim recreation area south of Moab. The Needles overlook is paved but the Canyonlands overlook is not.
