I’m not jumping down any conspiracy theories yet but it really seems nuts that he would be that composed while murdering someone in broad daylight and then hold on to everything but the backpack a few days and a few states later. Seems like dropping the evidence one piece at a time one state at a time would’ve made the most sense.
If it can be explained by conspiracy or incompetence... it's incompetence.

Serious question: what makes someone get “assassination” status? King, President, CEO?

Interesting question. Was John Lennon "assonated" or "murdered". He was as prominent of a figure as it comes (not a huge Beatles fan but it's someone we'd all know). I'd say "murdered" but I wonder on the definition. Assassination attempts on Reagan and Trump are well known. (I'm sure EVERY president has those attempts)

I would say assassination would be more political figures or "movement" (Malcom X, Martin Luther King Jr) figures?

According to Websters:
: murder by sudden or secret attack often for political reasons : the act or an instance of assassinating someone (such as a prominent political leader)

the assassination of Abraham Lincoln

an assassination attempt

Or more broadly; a premeditated, targeted killing of a specific individual.
