Archived Grampa's Jeep and friends at EJS 2018

On the first Saturday of EJS three of our group of flat fenders did a practice run on the Pickle. You can see some of that in the first video of this thread. Later that day we went over to Wipeout Hill. This was the site of the first Friday Flat Fender Fun Run that I participated In two years...

We took our flatties over to Pritchett Canyon to see what we could do. We got through The Brickyard and watched a line of rigs go up Chewy. A couple of our group got up Chewy just fine but we decided that, at least this day with so many people waiting and watching, we wouldn’t chance it. In the...

    Trip Report Grampa’s Jeep’s Greatest Hits 2017

We ran Strike Ravine, played around a .ittle at the beginning of Helldorado. Then we went part way up Green Day. One jeep broke a front drive axle so we headed back down and took a wrong turn ending up on Minor Threat.

On Saturday all my trail partners left so I picked a relatively safe trail to hit by myself and ran over to Gemini Bridges. I liked it so much that I went around and came up Bull Canyon to get a look from the bottom. Not really an action video, more touristy with some narration. My first...

Monday we ran Strike ravine and stopped by the entrance to Helldorado. Jeff said he thought he could get through it if he dropped in after the gatekeeper rock.

Sunday j went to church then caught up to the guys on Hell's Revenge. I might post some on board go pro footage of that, but if will have to wait until I get home. After Hell's we stopped by Potato Salad Hill to watch the show for a minute. Jeff in Bam Bam ran right up it.

Archived Grampa's Jeep and friends at EJS 2018

I thought I would post my videos from this year's EJS here, some of me and some of my flat fender friends. I am still in Moab so I don't have all my stuff edited and uploaded yet, but here's a start and more to come. Saturday we did a practice run on the Pickle. Wanted to get the lines down for...

Why do you drive what you drive off-road?

The only 4x4 I have ever owned and almost the only one I have ever driven is my 1948 mostly stock CJ2A. This jeep was my Grampa's hunting rig back when I was a kid in the 60's. I and my siblings and cousins went on may great adventures in this jeep without moving an inch as it sat behind...

Nice job Greg, taking a simple farmer type fix that I do by just splitting the hose and slipping it over the block and turning it into something elegant and exotic. I like it a lot.

Jeep Bench Racing, building a "new" Willys CJ2a

If you have a couple of days, read through Jeff’s build thread (all 70 pages) of his MB Bam Bam on thecj2apage.com. He’s done a lot of what you said in your first post. He’s also taken great care to make it look like he hasn’t done a thing to it. He hasn’t used much MD Juan stuff though. He can...

    Rubicon trail family trip advice?....

We did it in flat fenders. Took us almost 3 days with 9 hours of breakdown delays. Probably apples and oranges to what you want to do though. Others have made it through in hours. If you can handle it so can your kids...

I don’t live there but my Dad does. St. George pretty hits everything on your list. For that matter, Sandy does too. Is ther more to the story?

Seatbelts... that’s silly. Just hang on to the passenger seat back. It probably won’t flip forward on it’s hinge. This was my first ever red rock wall. When you go down you gotta come up. This was before the lockers and the Tera Low gears.

Jeep Gregs Willys CJ2a, rusto-mod version

One thing I like to do on the wood blocks is take a 4 inch length of 3/4 in heater hose, split if length wise, then slip it over the wood blocks before I lay the windshield down on them. Gives a bit of a rubber cushion. Saves the block getting rubbed so much and maybe a squeak or two. Don't...
