You could do the opposite as well. Drill a hole in the strap and weld the nut to it. Now you can hold the nut on the back and it won't turn. The bolt can go in from the front.

Looks like fun. I've run Milt's Mile in my flatty before, but never when it's wet. I'll bet that added a whole new dimension to it. I don't remember that slope that the green rig is getting strapped up being that tough on a dry day. A little water sure adds to the challenge.

This is from near Little Arch on the Poison Spider Trail looking across the Colorado river. If you zoom in you can see vehicles working their way up the Z-Turn on the Moab Rim trail.
