    Street-legal buggys - It Passed!

The way I understand it, and the way it was intended when we started the process, is you can drive it anywhere / anytime as long as the road is legal to drive on (not an interstate).

    Montero on Kane Creek trail....

Got the Montero out today. We rolled it onto its side and used a pump to wash all the debris out, bolted some wheels and tires on it, and used chains and some pipe to fashion a make shift tow bar. It took three rigs strapped together to drag it up some of the ledges, but all in all it went well...

I'm not sure what all we need to do, but you are more than welcome to come along and lend a hand. We are tentatively meeting at the south end trailhead at 7am on Wednesday morning. Anyone that is interested in coming PM me when we get closer for details.

    Montero on Kane Creek trail....

We got some wheels and tires for it, and next Wednesday a few of us are going in to prep it for hauling out. If we can haul it out then, we will, otherwise we'll schedule another date.

    Street-legal buggys - It Passed!

When it had fenders, I was able to get it inspected and registered (I "knew a guy" that would look the other way and sign off on it), but it never was really street legal.

    Street-legal buggys - It Passed!

Just got mine registered. I was the first one in Moab to get inspection, and the second to get it registered. There is a bit of a learning curve involved for the DMV, but overall it went very smoothly.

    Montero on Kane Creek trail....

So we made a trip today to check out the Montero. Brought a BLM rep with us. We winched it out of the creek and back onto 4 wheels. The plan is to cut the top off, along with as much sheet metal as we can. We'll roll it over a few more times to get rid of as much sand and debris as possible...

    Street-legal buggys - It Passed!

I don't recall ever seeing a minimum posted speed limit on 191.

    Street-legal buggys - It Passed!

SB154 repealed the 7500 population limit. I'm assuming that will apply to full-sized also.

    Street-legal buggys - It Passed!

The governor needs to sign the bill, and the Utah Highway Patrol needs to modify the safety inspection manual. I expect everything will be ready to go sometime in the next few months. This bill will allow Utah residents to register full size rigs as street legal ATV's. I am not sure how it will...

Utah Highway Patrol has assured us that the Safety Inspection Manual will be re-written to allow the use of beadlocks and full hydro.

    Street-legal buggys - It Passed!

A companion bill was passed earlier that eliminates the population rule for ATV's, which will apply to us as well.
