Colorado-BLM seeks comments on Grand Junction draft RMP

I have run 21 Road and Billings, but beyond that I have no experience or knowledge of the Grand Junction area trails. I'm sure Jeff Bates (Badbuggy) will post up, I know he'll be on top of it.

Mike, glad you are going to make it again this year! Coming the week after EJS is great, hopefully I'll be able to join you for a few trails.

Jeep Safari Permit the Good and Bad

Not only that, but every guide and tour company in Moab is bound by the same permit, as well as all of the other 4x4 and atv/utv events in Moab.

    2012 NPLD activity

Jack, I'm pretty sure I sent you an email a few weeks ago regarding this. If you didn't get it, let me know.

WHat's everyone using to deflate their tires?

I've used Rapid Air Down Deflators from Rimrock Mountain Supply (http://www.rimrockmtn.com/) for years and love them. Kinda pricey, and since they replace your stock valve stems they are a bit of a pain to install, but dump air twice as fast as removing the valve cores.

    Coyote Canyon

Glad you enjoyed it! I ran it again acouple weeks ago, did it backwards just for fun. I'm hopefull that we can get some of the restrictions/regulations eased in the future.

    Coyote Canyon

You don't have to be on the trail at 9am, just not before 9. You need to be off by 5:00. There is a procedure for going in the next day to recover a disabled rig. ATV's, SXS's, and dirt bikes are not permitted. Here is the link with all the rules and procedures...

    minesweeper aka killer kane?

The bottom part goes through some private property and is gated. We have talked to the owner about opening it, but he has not been very cooperative. If someone wanted to battle for it, it might be possible to get it re-opened, but I'm not sure it is worth the effort. I have driven it, and it is...

    NPLD report (Moab Friends-For-Wheelin)

Haha, I agree! Seems like most of the younger folks in the club are supporting members from out of the area, and we don't see them all that often. Oh well, I still feel like a kid (mentally, at least... sometime the body feels like its older than it is!)

    NPLD report (Moab Friends-For-Wheelin)

We had a nice turn out this morning for our NPLD project, I think we had 17 volunteers plus a BLM ranger that helped out. We also had a visit from Juan Palma (Utah Stae BLM Director) and Shelley Smith (District BLM Director), which was nice. Our project was to improve the parking area at the...

    Moab trails?

We'll be taking BLM out on Spike on Oct 27 for trail marking. We'll also be signing Where Eagles Dare. You are welcome to come along if you are here then.

    Moab trails?

Yeah, Golden Spike can be really hard to follow in places. The paint marks fade quickly, and are hard to see sometimes even when they are fresh. Then there are numerous illegal dead-ends and parallel routes that have been created from people getting lost, and also illegal painted bicycle routes...

    Moab trails?

Have you done Where Eagles Dare? It's off of Golden Spike, has some steep slickrock sections and a great viewpoint looking down at Corona Arch.
