Need some help in Moab to find a good course at AREA BFE

Rich, I will be at BFE those days helping Olaf with different things, so I can show you the course we laid out. Jeff

No axle problems so far on either rig. To be honest, I am a little surprised Jim hasn't had any problems with 40's and the 4.3, although he did blow up a hub last year. Now get your junk finished and get down here! :D

Coyote Canyon - WE WON (sort of...)

Thanks! I'll definately post up when we schedule our first work party.

    Coyote Canyon status?

BLM announced last week that Coyote will be re-opened, although there are some restrictions. There will be a 30 day protest/appeal period, and then if everything goes okay we can start working on fencing, signage, and everything else we need to do to open it. Hopefully we can have it open by...

    Signage around AreaBFE

Cool! Jim and I will be there, probably working on widening the skinny spot on Dropkick a bit more. We should be there around 10. If we could get the new trails ZGPS'd that would be great.

Coyote Canyon - WE WON (sort of...)

Yes, that is correct. I'm wondering if people who sent in "form letters" or nearly identical comments were not included. I'll do my best to find out...

Coyote Canyon - WE WON (sort of...)

This just shows how devious our opposition can be. I'm not sure what will become of this, but I'm sure it is going to be an issue. Get ready for the next fight... Marc, your name is on the list :).

Coyote Canyon - WE WON (sort of...)

Wow. Shane, your name is not on the list. I believe you 100% when you say you submitted your comments. So I wonder how many other comments were either lost or otherwise not recorded. I don't know if they would have made a difference in the decision, but it is an area of great concern. I don't...

Coyote Canyon - WE WON (sort of...)

We actually had a fair number of comments, and I'd like to thank everyone that took the time to write. There were 398 comments recieved during the "scoping period" from March 31 to August 8 2011, 389 of which were in favor of re-opening. (I believe many of these comments were actually written...

The BLM's "Decision Record" can be seen at https://www.blm.gov/ut/enbb/index.php. Type "coyote" into the search feature. The document is 60 pages long. While I don't necessarily agree with all of the stipulations, I respect the amount of effort and time on BLM's part that went into it...

Coyote Canyon - WE WON (sort of...)

From what I know so far, "organized" and "commercial" groups will be able to use the trail, but the same restrictions will apply. I don't like all of the restrictions either, but it is FAR better than losing the trail totally. I for one will reserve judgement untill I see the EA. (BTW, the...

Coyote Canyon - WE WON (sort of...)

Until I see the actual EA, I don't know anything more about the restrictions than what I posted. I'm sure they are permanent. They said that there will be a way to reserve registrations online, but again, I'll have to wait till I see the EA.

Coyote Canyon - WE WON (sort of...)

I just got the word from BLM that Coyote Canyon will be re-opened, although there are some conditions and restrictions. I haven't seen the full documentation yet, so everything I am listing is unofficial as of right now, but the basics are as follows: The trail must be reserved with the BLM in...

    Signage around AreaBFE

So we got the trailhead signs installed for Dropkick and Lockjaw at each end, plus a few arrows here and there. Still need to add a few more arrows to eliminate confusion. Here's a few pics... [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG]

Yeah, they are 39's and I think they work great. They took a little while to break in, but once they did, the traction seems to be a lot better than the old TSL's. They are wearing good, and they seem to be plenty strong. For the price, I have no complaints. For whatever reason, Jim didn't like...

Olaf, please consider the Dropkick and Lockjaw signs as a donation from Moab Friends-For-Wheelin'. Badbuggy, let me know when you guys are coming over!

    Signage around AreaBFE

Okay, we'll check out Lockjaw. Maybe we can cut out some arrows and mount them on the side of the trail with rebar in the confusing spots. I thought that Jim had a GPS, but I guess he doesn't. The next time one of our club members who has GPS is in town, I'll see if we can get GPS coordinates...

    Signage around AreaBFE

Olaf - I fab'd the signs for Dropkick and Lockjaw this week, and we'll probably get them installed this weekend. I'll post some pics when we get them installed. I'm not sure what exactly you mean for Lockjaw, but we can put them anywhere you want. I was going to let Badbuggy make the sign for...
