Yeah, that's a very short list. I'm not on there and I did send in comments. Kurt your name is on there.

Edit: Wow, some of the comments in there are amazing.

"Coyote was NOT legal when it was created because it violated the "undue and unnecessary damage" requirement"
Response:
The "under and unnecessary damage" requirement is applied to third party public land users, such as thos involved in the minerals industry. Coyote was legal when it was created because it was in an area that the BLM had designated for open, cross country OHV travel in its 1985 Grand RMP.

:mad2: Hopefully it's only part of the exit route to which a new exit can be put in while remaining on AreaBFE property.

I didn't make the list either. It looks like there is a little number in parenthesis after each comment, I wonder if they just put the all together into "86" comments. So apparently 9 people wrote in concerning the noise level being excessive from rock crawlers.

This just shows how devious our opposition can be. I'm not sure what will become of this, but I'm sure it is going to be an issue. Get ready for the next fight...

I'm SURE I commented. I had my kids and wife comment as well.

Marc, your name is on the list :).

Yes, that is correct.

I'm wondering if people who sent in "form letters" or nearly identical comments were not included. I'll do my best to find out...

It never ceases to amaze me to see my name as "Mark Bryson" esp. when I've submitted documents via email as "marc.bryson@emaildomain.com" and signed them as "Marc Bryson" :D

Not a big deal, but odd...

Nice work Jeff and MFFW! Hopefully we can work on those limitations over time.

My name isn't on the list either and I know I commented.

I did not see my name or U4WDA and I went by the office as well as sending an email.

This was the post about the visit to the office, maybe too late.

I have been having a good family trip to Moab and used the opertunity to visit some people. I visited the BLM office and had a long talk with Katie Stevens. She believes we complain too much as the clubs in Moab were given every chance to list trails they wanted. She is the person writing up the decision on CoyoteCanyon and said she could not comment on the results until they are released. I don't think it matters but she said both sides win some and loose some.
I then had a short visit with Dan Mick at the Moab Diner. Mostly just talk.

That's a fun exit. I've never run it backwards. That'd be cool as well. :D

UNSTUCK

But stuck more often.
I'm a little late to the party, but this is good news. My favorite trail In AZ is a gated trail. Each month the BLM changes the code on the lock on the gate. You have to register to get a permit. They keep your i.d and vehicle registration on file. Once you have your permit you can get the codes. Compared to other trails in the area that are open to all, this trail is the best. There is no garbage, litter, ect on the trail. Traffic is very low. It's just nice.

I would have no problem at all going that route for more trails. I don't like the 7 rigs a day thing, but I think we can overcome that one. In the end, an open trail is better then a closed one.

I spoke to Katie yesterday regarding Coyote Canyon and she was very nice about taking the time to explain the process. It seemed that the decision regarding the limitation of use was in large part, the noise factor. I guess it comes down to the fact that urbanization tends to win over recreation, and noise is in the ear of the beholder.

That's why they chose Friday and Saturday, instead of Saturday and Sunday. I mentioned that they could've added a 3rd day like Thursday and there still would've been less use/noise than if they had included Sunday because recreation occurs on weekends. She agreed that Monday also would've been a good day.

I'm not sure if there's a way to get more access in the future or if this is it. I didn't ask Katie, but I wonder if we could apply for a special permit if we were having an event?

NICE WORK MFFFW! Thankfully, my name is on the list. I love this trail and plan on going throught the process to run it. Sometimes we have to wince and grin at a kick in the crotch.

I just checked and found I am also not on the list. In reading many of the comments, it looks like you and your club has stepped up and volunteered to do the maintenance and clean up of this trail, (Just like many of the trails in the area.) Please don't take this all on you guys. Post up when you are doing the work trips, not only on Coyote but other trails, let some of us pitch in. If we can't be there in body, let us know if you need donations, I know there are a lot of individuals in our 4X4 community who would love to help out and thanks for being on the front lines for all the fighting in the Moab area!!
