    Street-legal buggys - It Passed!

If you are registered as a full-size ATV, then you will be able to drive it on Highway 191. Just observe the 45 mph speed limit.

    Street-legal buggys - It Passed!

IT PASSED! Last summer Moab Friends-For-Wheelin’ set out to attempt to get legislation passed that would allow us to register our trail rigs as “fullsized ATV’s”. We hired Mike Swenson (with Swenson Strategies and USA-All) to help with our efforts. Yesterday, our bill (House Bill 148) passed...

    Street legal buggies?

IT PASSED!!! The Senate passed and signed House Bill 148 today! The vote was 28-0. Now the bill goes back to the House to be signed. The law obviously won't be official until it is signed by the governor, but it looks like we did it! I will post more info this evening when I get home from work...

    Street legal buggies?

The bill (HB148) is currently in the House waiting to be voted on. The UHP and Utah Sheriffs Assn. have both bought off on the bill, and there has been really no opposition. It all comes down to if there is enough time left in the legislative session to get it done. If it doesn't happen this...

2014 Proposed OSRC Rules Including UTVs

I have never been to this event, but I am thinking about it this year. How much difference is there between the Legends lines, the Pro-Mod, and the Unlimited lines? My rig meets all the requirements for Legends except the fuel tank is not in the stock location. If I could run Legends, I would...

I'd like to give a HUGE THANKS to the people who have donated so far. U4WDA for their very generous donation, Steve Nantz with Moab 4x4 Outpost for not only his donation but also for going with us to SLC for our meeting with the Dept of Public Safety, to Grandpa's Garage in Moab, and to the...

    Street legal buggies?

I edited my original post to include the email address that is linked to our PayPal account, just in case anyone would like to send a few bucks our way to help with this. Or, if a personal check is your preferred way, just shoot me a PM and I will give you a mailing address. The email address is...

    Street legal buggies?

Thanks everyone for your (mostly :D) support. Like anything else, there are pros and cons, and I certainly don't want to see a bunch of un-safe vehicles clogging up the roads. But with required inspections, insurance, and basic safety requirements, I believe this could be great for a lot of us...

    Street legal buggies?

I agree that there are some questionable rigs out there, that is why we are proposing an inspection system in order to get licensed. As the law is now, your tires have to be 100 percent covered by fenders/flares, mud flaps are required, no beadlocks wheels, plus countless other things that many...

    Street legal buggies?

Kurt, the first year of the ATV law did allow full-sized rigs. Apparently someone with the Highway Patrol didn't like it (that person is no longer there). Also, the word is that the Moab Sheriff was against it (we have a new sheriff now, and Moab has eased way up the last couple years on mud...

    Street legal buggies?

Would you like to be able to legally drive your non-streetlegal 4x4 or buggy to the trailhead? Moab Friends-For-Wheelin’ is trying tomake that possible! Because of Utah’s restrictive safety inspection law, many ofour modified trail rigs are unable to be licensed for street use. This meansthat we...

    Moab Trail Conditions

Kane Creek had a major flood a few weeks ago, and most of the creek-bottom portion has been wiped out. You can check out our report here: http://webejeepinmoab.com/?page_id=88 (scroll down till you find the Kane Creek report). As far as the Hells exit, yes, it is getting a bit rough, but it...
