    ZJ/JK Rubicon 44 build.

There were some hints made in tlaking to guys at the dealership that they changed the specs in january of 08 to keep from hitting the point where a recall would be justified, and won't raise the price till later this year to avoid making thing obvious. Like I said, hints, no one is coming out...

    ZJ/JK Rubicon 44 build.

I've got the measurements written in my toolbox... the from was right around .43 wall based on my math, but I don't remember the inner and outer measurements off the top of my head. If you look at the inner seal in the picture next to my toobox, there isn't much room in the tube. I can check...

    ZJ/JK Rubicon 44 build.

I'll find out... worst case I'll get it re-tubed with thicker tubes. My parts guy indicated that there were a handfull of changes to the 08s... my axles were made in March of 08, and were a LOT thicker than those look... I'll probably add some gussets to the Cs just in case.... and maybe a...

    ZJ/JK Rubicon 44 build.

Joe... those are some scary pics. From my inside to outside measurements my tubes were about .43" thick in the front, and those look much thinner. The outer Cs bending is a little scary, since my ZJ is somewhat heavier than the average JK... Does that kit include gussets for the upper and...

Yours isn't the correct pitch. I've gone another rout on that, but thanks for asking.

    ZJ/JK Rubicon 44 build.

Interesting... I'd have to make them, since I moved my coil buckets inward about 1.5" per side... I wasn't too worried about it, since I have 08 axles and the tubes were nice and thick... have you guys been seeing failures on them?

    ZJ/JK Rubicon 44 build.

My digital Camera crapped the bed, so I don't have pics but the rear axle is in. All the hard stuff is done at this point. On the downside, I broke my autozone pitman arm puller trying to get my pitman arm off. It was brand new, and will be going back to the store. It's nice to see the...

My lease ended in January of 2003, and I didn't even attempt to buy it out (stupid GM lease). I was wheelerless for a few years, started a few various projects, never finished anything, and then I bought my grand. I don't have a choice but to finish this one, and it's coming along so nicely...

    ZJ pitman arm nut size?

I went to pull my pitman arm and found I don't have the right size socket for it. I also don't have a wrench that pits snugly on it for refrence. I never thought of sizing it with calipers till I typed this, but does anyone know what jeep uses for the pitman arm nut? I'd like to pick up...

    So screwed up

You're not the only judgemental jerk here. This makes me really sick. I dontate toys to the Midvale Crisis center. There are a few of these places that exist for the sole purpose of preventing child abuse. Basically, if you get freaked out, you drop your kid off for a couple of hours, and...

    Ballistic fab coilovers.

Ballistic's coil buckets will squeak like crazy. Clayton's wont. I'm using modified front D30 buckets on my rear 44, with Clayton's truss (that comes with his kit). I'm hoping these won't squeak, cause they didn't before. Find a disco D30 in someone's scrap pile (cuase thats where they...

    Rusty's long-arms, opinions?

Everybody hated on short arms when I bought them. In January. Yeah.. this last january.... 2008. I bought them anyway. I didn't like them. They worked really well, in terms of articulation. If you go short arm, make sure you get adjustable with an articulating joint. There were a...

    ZJ/JK Rubicon 44 build.

Thanks... it's coming along. I'm shooting for getting the rear axle in this weekend. Joe, you need the ABS sensors from the JK axles?

    Rusty's long-arms, opinions?

Short ^ Long. See the difference? more of the force of rolling over bumps can be absorbed into the spring with a long arm. The closer you get vertical, the more impact is transfered into the frame (on a ZJ that means body, and seat) and the harsher the ride. Just food for thought.

    ZJ/JK Rubicon 44 build.

Day 5: Reinforcements The one thing I wasn’t completely satisfied with on the Clayton’s kit was the rear axle truss control arm tabs. They were welded on with near perfect welds, but all of that leverage was focused on the ears welded to the truss, over a very small space. I know hundreds...

    Rusty's long-arms, opinions?

I need to take a picture of my rear short arms. I'm was/am on 4.5" and 32s. It's almost comical to look at the difference in angle between the rear short arms and the front long arms. My grand rode rough... bad enough that my wife didn't want to ride in it on the 4.5" and short arms. It...
