General Tech What did you work on Today?

Those hex head's are for mockup only. I'll be using button head fasteners upon final assembly, not enough meet to fully countersink, plus nothing will be sliding in/out as it will be more of a pocket back there one the Black Box is installed. Mike

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Don't want to full cage it, this isn't structural, just an attachment point for accessories so they aren't loose in the back. Thanks. Mike

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Last night’s work consisted of bending the rear cargo area hoop and welding the floor plates. Before closing up I cut out a couple of 1/4” thick tabs in which to use as mounting points for the hi-lift jack on the hoop. Thanks for looking. Mike

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Last night my son and I made some decent progress on his rear cargo area in his WJ. The Mac’s Black Box is designed for the rear of a Jeep JKU so we had to cut and modify the front mount and fabricate new rear mounts to work in a WJ. Front mounting plate. Squaring up some .625” thick plate...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Thank you. The welder's helper serves two basic functions. First for small pieces it aids in holding them in place for tacking and secondly I have the ends of mine welded with some silicone bronze to aid in conductivity. For those odd to ground parts or such as in this instance the part was...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

My neighbor hit me up Saturday morning and asked if I could repair a bracket that broke off of his tow behind aerator. Not much penetration going on here. I knocked down the failed weld. I placed a .750” piece of O1 drill rod to align for welding. Ready for paint. Painted. Next item...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Last night I was able to spend some quality time in the shop with my son which was very therapeutic after the past couple of weeks. We finished up the installation of his new bumper on his WJ as well as installed the winch and lights and wired them up and finally installed the synthetic rope on...

    Bart's 2007 JKUR

Thanks Bart. Again, the Jeep looks killer. Like you, I don't like the "in your face" or "over the top" appearance that most Jeeps have with every bolt on accessory imaginable. I prefer a more OE look but with the goodies where they count. Mike

    Bart's 2007 JKUR

The Jeep has a very commanding stance Bart. Looks great. Maybe I missed this but what tires/wheels are you running now? Last I read you were running some used TR beadlocks and 39" KM2's but those look like maybe 40's and definitely different wheels being 8-lug. Mike

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Me too. Unfortunately we are focused on getting the sliders fabricated and a rear hoop for the storage area so they can be sent off to powder coating before we will actually install the bumper. Trying to have it pretty much completed for our club run in March as he is anxious to get it back on...

    Bart's 2007 JKUR

That PSC Big Bore II is massive. I had one for a short time and liked it with my 35's but it wasn't hydro-assist capable, just the gearbox with the larger sector shaft and bigger piston. I removed it after about 8 months because it wouldn't work with the LS engine so I replaced it with...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

I received a call from the powder coater yesterday so I picked up the bumper parts for my son’s WJ after work. We then started to build a small skid or guard for the windshield washer bottle on the driver’s side. We then commenced the fabrication of the sliders by building the mounting...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

It's not what I would call a difficult or hard job by any means Russ. It is a bit time consuming because of everything that has to be moved out of the way to gain access, and even then access is quite limited. I also wasn't in a hurry so I took my time, even rolled the engine over a few times...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Saturday was preventive maintenance or scheduled maintenance day on the wife’s Acura TL. Timing belt, water pump, idlers, hydraulic tensioner, serpentine belt and tensioner pulley all were replaced. Removed lower cover to expose the harmonic balancer. The official Honda/Acura tool will...
