I would do a compression test. I've seen broken glow plugs before in engine, and it didn't even affect them. Hell my 6.2 Diesel sucked a rag through the intake one day while I was trying to get it started. It chewed that baby up and spit it out the exhaust manifold... LOL, no damage whatsoever.
