Based on a couple of packages CruiserOutfitter got delivered one day, I would say the extra 35# is in packaging materials. The stuff I saw delivered that day was packed in boxes and strapped on a pallet. Very secure packaging, unlikely that any damage would occur to the items being shipped.

Have you tested it lately against a calibrated standard? Unfortunately, many gages will be off somewhat the very day you buy them. The only way to confirm your gage is to compare it to a standard. Consistently, I go out to work with people (I am in the tire business), and check their gages...
