Let's talk about the F.I.R.E. movement (Financially Independent, Retire Early).

As someone who is living that dream, I can tell you it certainly is NOT overrated. I retired at 57, the wife was 55. We both really liked our jobs but just got sick of the traffic and smog in Salt Lake. So we quit work, sold the house, and moved to sunny Arizona. I believe the smartest...

That’s so 80’s... It’s a fact, it can’t be cool without an LS in it, or so I’ve heard.

    CCP classes?

Way back when, we did ours at Impact. Good course, and they did the all of the paperwork and fingerprints at the same time.

General Tech What did you work on Today?

One more mock up of the engine placement. It’s a lot tighter than I envisioned, but I managed to get the motor mounts in the perfect position. I’ll pull all of it back out tomorrow and start hacking up the firewall and floor

Looking to buy a 410 pistol.. Your thoughts?

I just don’t see the logic in paying big bucks for a gun I’ll likely never use. I run across 4 or 5 large Diamondbacks a year down here. I pack 18 rounds of “Snakeshot” in my 9mm and feel comfortable around them. So far, I’ve never fired at one. I'm one of those guys who believe the more guns I...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Not much to show for it, but I did get a ton of work done. I’ve been using my little Lincoln 110 welder to tack a few things into place on the hot rod. I got sick of the smoke and spatter and finally decided to wire in the 220 V outlet that I need since I’ve been sitting on the parts for close...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Problem resolved, I think. Instead of mounting the radiator vertical like it should be, if I tilt it 20* to more closely mimic the grill I will gain almost 2” at the water pump level. That should remedy my steering issue as well as reduce the amount of firewall and and floor modifications I’ll...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

The steering shaft needs to go where the #7 exhaust header runs. I’ll need to route the shaft out to the frame rail, then back in to the rack and pinion. That should be easy enough, but even then I’ll probably still have to offset the engine about 1/2” to the right to clear things.

General Tech What did you work on Today?

Tried a quick test for of the new power plant. If I could love without the luxury of steering and a radiator it would be fine, but some corners even I won’t cut. Looks like I’ll be introducing the firewall and tunnel area to Mr. Cutoff Wheel.
