It is certainly better than most of our 4x4s, yes. It's sad how often I have to deal with that exact fact in my job. (sigh)

As long as you consider 25 city, 30 hwy good mileage (with premium fuel required), then yes. If you opt for AWD, you also must sacrifice the manual transmission--it is only offered in the FWD model.

Tuesday's run of Elephant Hill has been full for a week now, and Thursday's run only has 6 openings left. FYI

Well, son of a b***h! I just signed up for EH on Thursday as planned, but Wednesday's run of the Pickle is already full. (sigh) Guess I'll have to start checking the web site every morning hoping for someone to cancel.

Hey, hey--easy. I was just trying to make sure I didn't do anything wrong in here. Let's ease into the topic slowly...

Clarify please. Can we just post any random animated gifs that we like (and can't stop watching over and over)?

(EDIT: I have changed my travel plans slightly. Updated message below.) Now that the forum has been created and the thread exists, I'll get to my topics: time and lodging. TIME: It looks like I'll probably head down on Tuesday afternoon (15th) and return home Thursday evening (17th). I'll...

It's about time to start making plans for this year's EJS. Will a new subforum be created for this?

Anyone dealt with a factory warranty?

While I did play a part, I'll be the first to admit that it was definitely a group effort. I'm glad we were able to reach a positive resolution. :)

    Local 8.1 PCM tuning

When I towed my Jeep to the Rubicon with my 8.1L Suburban, I observed better mileage than Brett did with his diesel Excursion. Sure, his trailer was twice as long and had two Jeeps on it... but, still. ;) In gentle day-to-day driving, I only see about 11.0-11.5 mpg out of my Burb. When...

    Local 8.1 PCM tuning

What makes you want to squeeze more out of it? Yes, I realize the 496 scores poorly on the 'output per displacement' scale... but it just works so well. I love how mine tows, and I'd hate to compromise its durability in any way.

    Adventure is Calling

Watching this video reminds me: I simply cannot comprehend how/why anybody cannot appreciate the sheer beauty and immensity of space. I am mesmerized by it--our own galaxy, distant galaxies, nebulae... all of it. I watch this stuff on Discovery and the like all the time. Sadly, my wife thinks...

A Plea For HELP! To Anyone Within A Reasonable Distance Of American Fork Canyon

I'd just fix the suspension, do the minimum required to pass safety, and keep driving it. Chicks dig body damage, right? Glad you guys are okay.

yet another ham radio discussion, OR: anyone else have a UV-5R HT?

Don't sweat it. Any UV-5RA is a great little radio no matter what color it is.

    HO-LEE CRAP,

Yeah, I need to watch it again. Bricktop has so many classic lines. Actually, lots of the characters manage to deliver a whole host of awesome dialogue. If any of you guys haven't seen it, it's a fantasticly entertaining film.

    HO-LEE CRAP,

"You're always gonna have problems lifting a body in one piece. Apparently the best thing to do is cut up a corpse into six pieces and pile it all together. And when you got your six pieces, you gotta get rid of them, because it's no good leaving it in the deep freeze for your mum to...

yet another ham radio discussion, OR: anyone else have a UV-5R HT?

That, totally. As I said in the OP, I received my UV-5RA as a gift--it was purchased for me via Amazon. I didn't take any classes--it's very easy to get your license on your own time. Instead, I bought the official ARRL Technician handbook: I casually read through it as time would...

yet another ham radio discussion, OR: anyone else have a UV-5R HT?

This morning I thought it would be wise to program that repeater into my HT, then take it along as another backup communication device in case of some emergency. With the size of today's crowd, the chances of actually needing it were extremely small... but I've got to start somewhere and I...
