The only specific tools you need are the triple torque for head bolts. And some special wrenches to adjust remove the injection pump. They also have a lot of allen head bolts. The cool part of a mercedes is reliability. Something the land rover motors are not exactly known for.

this is how i feel about towing with my land rover. no swaybars. underpowered V8, gas guzzler all the time, and very floppy through corners. And make sure you take a long run up a mountain pass. My Ford might be a pain sometimes, but it certainly tows well.
