Northern Utah JL Rockies Last Trip to AF Canyon

See what we've done? Now this will forever be the joke here on RME. :p

TeraFlex Tech: Open vs Locked Differentials

If they do decide to come teach (and take my place), could you please insist that they only share correct information? An open differential always distributes equal torque to both wheels. Torque does not only exit an open differential via a "path of least resistance."

A Plea For HELP! To Anyone Within A Reasonable Distance Of American Fork Canyon

Thank you. As many of you could imagine, Kevin made sure to keep the smack talk flowing throughout the ordeal... while Brian (and others) were all too happy to join him in that effort, as well. The best (?) part: separate individuals independently made the same anti-Ford joke at the site of...

A Plea For HELP! To Anyone Within A Reasonable Distance Of American Fork Canyon

As others have said, the recovery could not have gone any more smoothly. I was there taking a few pictures and shooting some video clips with my brand new camera. However, due to last-minute prep for my trip, I may not be able to share them with anyone until after the Rubicon. :(

A Plea For HELP! To Anyone Within A Reasonable Distance Of American Fork Canyon

This recovery project has taken on a life of its own, and it is already this --><-- close to becoming an RME legend. At this point, I think you ought to come along just so your grandkids will be proud that you were part of it.

A Plea For HELP! To Anyone Within A Reasonable Distance Of American Fork Canyon

Well, Friday morning was going to be my time to load the trailer and pack for the Rubicon... but not now. I'll do as much packing/prep as I can tomorrow, then I'll meet with you guys at Tibble Fork at 7:30 and head up.

A Plea For HELP! To Anyone Within A Reasonable Distance Of American Fork Canyon

I hate to be a nay-sayer, but I think this is an extremely valid concern. I could also go up tomorrow morning. Be advised: I am not nearly as experienced as others here (cough Bart cough), so I would be a grunt rather than the leader. ;)

    cooling system woes.

Your compression check looks good, though you could still have somebody test to see if there are any hydrocarbons in the coolant. As for the radiator, any radiator shop could easily test it for flow. It seems you are getting at least some circulation through the system since it...

A Plea For HELP! To Anyone Within A Reasonable Distance Of American Fork Canyon

As I said earlier, I am willing to lend a hand with this operation, schedule permitting. Speaking of, I see lots of members who are available on Friday but nobody has said they are available on Thursday. Thursday is the July 4th holiday. Am I the only guy on here who has that day off work?

Sounds like it will be. I have to work from 8:30am to 9pm, so I'm out. :(

A Plea For HELP! To Anyone Within A Reasonable Distance Of American Fork Canyon

Crap! Me, too. I even just tried calling Josh but got no answer. After leaving voice mail, I sent a text. He replied and said simply: No dice, it's spending the night. Way sketchy. FYI

    31 x 10.5 x 15 Set of 4

I've got a set of five 31x10.50-15 MT/Rs with ~ 90% tread mounted on 15x7 Jeep factory alloy wheels. I had planned to sell them to another guy, but I haven't spoken to him in a while... so they might be available. If anyone is interested, feel free to PM me.

AF Canyon for a beginner.... Where to go and what to see.

As others have said, your rig sounds capable enough. But what nobody has said is this: for the love of all that is sacred, please do not go up into the canyon with only one vehicle! This is Rule #1, and it should never be broken no matter how easy or familiar a given trail might be. (I...

winch install question about attaching cables to battery

This seemed like the best approach, and the bolts are long enough to accommodate this setup. I fished around my random collections of nuts and bolts until I found two matching nuts of the correct size. As a bonus, one side of each nut has an integrated washer/flare shape, which (in my mind)...

winch install question about attaching cables to battery

Full disclosure: this is my first time installing a winch. Today I was finally able to clean the corrosion off my battery terminals, so now I'm ready to complete the installation of my winch. I had envisioned completely removing the nuts from the battery connections, sliding on the winch...

    Chrysler 300 4x4

I realize you've never met me, but please rest assured: I would never try to make up somebody's mind for them. I will of course make suggestions which would seem to be a good match for your intended use, but ultimately it will be completely your decision. For the record, the best fuel economy...
