    Getting concerned

Expected protocol would be for them to deposit your check and then wait a couple weeks to make sure it didn't bounce. Once you've over that hurdle, they would then turn the title (and paperwork) in to the state. The DMV would then process everything, generate a new title in your name, and mail...

installing a CB in the Suburban--it's giving me grief

I did until my phone deleted all my contacts last month. Please PM me your info.

Official Packing for a week on the trail - Overview

Any of the "real" 12v freezer/fridges have extremely low amp draw. You can generally run one for 48 hours (or more) and still have enough cranking power to start your vehicle. If you would use one in a situation where you run your engine every day--or even every other day--there is absolutely...

installing a CB in the Suburban--it's giving me grief

    You guys crack me up. If I can't find one closer, I would be happy to run by either place for a quick test.

installing a CB in the Suburban--it's giving me grief

This morning I had time to re-route the ground directly to the bare steel plate itself. This produced no change in the radio's behavior. You guys may be right. The only two possibilities left are the 12v supply and the antenna itself. Anybody have a surplus antenna I can hook up for a quick...

installing a CB in the Suburban--it's giving me grief

I don't know yet. I'll work on it some more in the morning.

Official Packing for a week on the trail - Overview

So I recall. Indeed, just this afternoon I was perusing your site to see which models you rent. They are all too tall to fit into the designated area of my Jeep, so that idea is a no-go. Thanks, though.

installing a CB in the Suburban--it's giving me grief

I got home from work with a few precious minutes of daylight remaining, so I quickly took the new CB out of the Suburban and carried it (with its new mic attached) over to the Jeep. I disconnected the power and ground wires of the Jeep's radio, then connected the Suburban's wires in those exact...

Official Packing for a week on the trail - Overview

This thread is nicely timed, as Marc said. Indeed, I'd say it is somewhat inspirational for our Rubicon trip. Thanks for starting this discussion, Kurt--I know I'll be referring to your initial post many times over the next couple weeks. On the topic, I've decided not to purchase a 12v...

installing a CB in the Suburban--it's giving me grief

I have the (equally) new mic that came with the radio. I guess I could plug in the mic from my Jeep's radio and see if anything changes. (I say this assuming that remark was meant for me rather than Josh.) Off hand, I'd say that is your best bet.

installing a CB in the Suburban--it's giving me grief

I generally agree, which makes me more suspicious of my ground than my power source. No, I did not. However, the piece of steel in question is bare (unpainted). The screw in question is holding a plastic part to the steel, but the steel screw ought to make my ground connection complete... or...

Jeep Josh's 2013 JKUR Keep Track Of Stuff Thread

Have you already pre-stretched your cable? (I am in the process of installing my own M8000. It is currently mounted to my winch plate, but the plate isn't on the Jeep yet.)

    2013 Pickups

Dodge has actually been using DEF for years on their 4500 and 5500 trucks as well as the 3500 cab & chassis models. Because the Cummins burned cleaner than other diesel engines, they didn't need to have DEF on their 'regular' 2500 and 3500 models until 2013 (thanks to changing government...

installing a CB in the Suburban--it's giving me grief

Since I'll be towing to the Rubicon, I thought it would me nice to chat with the group while on the road. To that end, I just bought a(nother) Uniden PRO510XL. This is the same model I have in my Jeep, and that radio has been awesome. I've owned it ~ 20 years and have hard mounted it in at...

ZJ vs WJ: which would you buy to make a combo DD/trail rig?

I know, I know, it isn't a level playing field. PM sent.

Northern Utah Summer RME Quarterly Training Day - July 19th-20th

I should be able to participate in Friday evening's activities, though I won't be camping out. (After classes are over, I'll head back home so I can go to work bright and early the next morning.)

ZJ vs WJ: which would you buy to make a combo DD/trail rig?

Did you build both rigs? I'm curious if there are any disadvantages of one compared to the other. For example, maybe one requires more fender trimming than the other to fix a particular tire.

ZJ vs WJ: which would you buy to make a combo DD/trail rig?

My co-worker went with us to Forest Lake yesterday, but his Scout Traveler had a few issues and couldn't make the entire trip. We ended up parking it along the trail, then he rode the rest of the way up with me. Long story short, he thought my TJ was amazing--it has lots of flex, a very smooth...

winch chat (Warn's special deal, wire vs synthetic, and Spydura--aka highway robbery)

Good to know, though I admit I am looking forward to the contents of the bag more than the bag itself. Oh: I bought an M8000 earlier this week. :)

Northern Utah AF canyon (Forest Lake) morning run--Thursday, June 13th 2013

Awesome! And I just realized I overlooked this question: Yes, that's the one. Here is the info on it: Kountry Korner Chevron 5260 W 11000 N (corner of the Highland Hwy and the Alpine Hwy) Highland, UT 84003 (801) 756-4196...
