Dirt Bike riding tips & tricks

Whoa buddy, nobody should pay me anything for what i know... ;) I'd be happy to go out and pass along some of the info I learned, but it shouldn't be a substitute for taking a class by someone that really knows their stuff and can apply it really well. I'm planning on spending an hour or two...

Dirt Bike riding tips & tricks

We spent probably two hours just on long hill climbs. You were allowed a shorter and shorter approach until you had none. Sometimes, we'd have to stop and start on the hill where you'd have both brakes locked to keep from sliding down. You'd be surprised just how much traction the rear tire...

Dirt Bike riding tips & tricks

Yes, definitely was worth the $$$. I definitely walked away with better skills just because of the experience of being there and going through what he puts you through. However, its all about practicing now...

Dirt Bike riding tips & tricks

Damn, we covered alot and it wouldn't be difficult to pass most of it along either. It comes down to tons of practice and dropping your bike alot. Of course, taking the class would be ideal, but let me know if ya wanna go out to 5 mile and go over some stuff, as I'll be out there alot just...

Dirt Bike riding tips & tricks

Sorry for the late reply, I just barely saw this... FWIW, I have adjustable pegs that I've set at the lowest point (approx. 1/2" down). I'm 6' tall and most of my height is in the legs, not torso, so the lower pegs have been a good thing for me. To answer your question, i haven't noticed an...

Which aux tranny cooler for my tacoma?

BTW, unless you're gonna get fancy with a weld-in tranny pan bung for the gauge probe, you'll wanna locate it in-line between the tranny and the inlet to the stock cooler. This will give you the most accurate reading. FWIW, when weighing factors of cost, quality, and matching the stock...

Which aux tranny cooler for my tacoma?

Last fall, I installed a stacked plate type (approx. 11"x11") cooler on my '02 Taco and kept it running throught the factory radiator cooler. I have seen no issues, but when its really cold it takes a bit longer to shift for the first mile or so. From my research, a fan on the cooler is...

If you had to pick one bike out of them all what would it be?

Yup, the 300 seems to be the swiss army knife of bikes (and I still haven't had the opportunity to ride one!). If dual sport was thrown in to the mix, then my pick would be the 450 or 500 XCW (or EXC) KTMs. Either would make great all-around bikes.

    Air me up!!!

I've been running bib mousses up front since '08 and I love 'em. However, I wouldn't run one in a plated bike that sees alot of hwy. use. They develop "soft spots" from hard hits that are noticeable when on smooth surfaces or pavement. I'd just run ultra HD tubes front and rear and call it good.

Attn Von...or anyone else that wants to chime in!

Thats gonna be a sweet bike Caleb! I was invited to join a 4 person team for this year's Baja 1000 (still deciding if they're a good "fit" for me or not), and the plan is to buy a 500 XCW then sell it after the race. I'm looking forward to riding one. Everything i've read says they are the...

    moto steering stabilizer question

I've had a v1 and currently have a v4 and neither had "play" from center. If all the related hardware is tight and you're getting this kind of movement, I'd call GPR up and plan on sending it in for a rebuild. I don't believe they charge for a rebuild either.
