Anyone wanna go 'wheeling on July 4th?

Good question. So far, there seem to be a lot of 'maybes' but not too many commitments. Even my co-worker (who originally brought up this idea) is still on the fence. I do have three other people 100% committed to go, making it at least a four-rig run. I figure we'll just get there and see...

TurboMinivan's 1998 Wrangler Sport build thread

Since my Jeep is about to undergo a major transformation, I decided it might be time to make a thread about it. I'll begin with the background information. I purchased it back in October 2010; it was stone stock... and in need of some TLC. At the time, I already owned a 1997 Wrangler SE...

Anyone wanna go 'wheeling on July 4th?

As mentioned above: - we'll meet at the reservoir parking lot at 8am. - we should be definitely back down by lunch time.

Anyone wanna go 'wheeling on July 4th?

Well I can't speak for everyone, but I would be willing to run to Forest Lake in the morning and then hit Five Mile Pass after lunch.

Anyone wanna go 'wheeling on July 4th?

I may actually try shooting video (gasp!) as practice for our Rubicon trip. ;)

Anyone wanna go 'wheeling on July 4th?

As I suggested earlier, I would be fine with heading out via Midway rather than Tibble Fork. I figure there will be a lot of traffic coming into the canyon by that time, and there are some narrow stretches which make passing oncoming vehicles... interesting. I have a map of the whole mountain...

Anyone wanna go 'wheeling on July 4th?

I might suggest meeting a little bit later, such as 8AM. Sound good?

Anyone wanna go 'wheeling on July 4th?

This. Nevertheless, I'm willing to give it a shot. Maybe we can go in via the usual Tibble Fork entrance, make the Lake run, then head out by going over the mountain and dropping into Midway. I bet we'd see less traffic that way.

    toyota pickup questions

Personally, I feel that the way to true nirvana is via multiple vehicle ownership. :) Every vehicle--and I do mean every vehicle--is a compromise in one way or another. Whenever you optimize a vehicle for one specific need, you undoubtedly make it lousy for some other specific need. So...

Rubicon Shakedown Run #3: Hanging Tree Trail

I'd be happy to let you ride along with me. Based on your sig, my TJ will end up very similar to yours (4" lift, 35s, 4.56, dual lockers). :eek2: Looks like I'll still be the low rider.

Rubicon Shakedown Run #3: Hanging Tree Trail

Oh, I thought there was no exit at the top. Guess I misunderstood. :o And thank you for putting me on the list.

Rubicon Shakedown Run #3: Hanging Tree Trail

So how are you envisioning this happening? I'm told there are no passing spots on the trail, so that introduces a traffic conflict, as it were. The way I see it, there are two possible scenarios: #1: group A goes all the way up the trail, then waits at the top (relaxes? has lunch?) until...

Anyone wanna go 'wheeling on July 4th?

I'm surprised nobody has started this thread yet, so here goes. Anyone wanna do some local 'wheeling on the 4th? I'm open to suggestions. A co-worker told me he might want to head up to Forest Lake that morning, though he hasn't firmed up any plans with me yet. If we go, would any of you...

Rubicon Shakedown Run #3: Hanging Tree Trail

Steve, So I am going full speed into modifying the Jeep. I should have it done in time to make this shakedown run. Since that means I ought to be able to run it, can you put me on the (waiting) list?

Rubicon Shakedown Run #3: Hanging Tree Trail

My first TJ (a 2001 Sport I factory ordered) was lifted with a 4" TeraFlex long arm system. I absolutely loved how it rode and performed, and no Wrangler I've owned since has felt as good to me. Ultimately, I would be very happy to recreate that setup. I am leaning heavily in that direction...

Rubicon Shakedown Run #3: Hanging Tree Trail

Hello again, everyone. Since my last post, I have dropped $2000 on a full set (read: five) of 35" BFG KM2s and 15x8 alloy wheels. Now I need to alter the Jeep so they'll fit. Speaking of which: I have thought about the DIY Highline conversion many, many times. There are some things I...

Rubicon Shakedown Run #3: Hanging Tree Trail

Oh, gotcha. And I greatly appreciate that you said it, Bart. As I'm sure you know, I have great respect for you--both your experience and your ability. I highly value your opinion on matters such as this, especially considering you have run both of the trails mentioned (Rubicon and HTT)...

Oh, wait--this just in (from another thread): So you're saying HTT is harder than the Rubicon Trail? And you're also saying that HTT is harder than Constrictor?
