Glad you joined the forum, Jason. I know this will give you a lot of exposure to modified rigs, which will only make you want to lift your Commander even more. I'm also delighted to hear you are spreading the word and recruiting others to join in the fun.

You do realize that by using that excuse for missing this event, you will be obligated to attend our next event accompanied by a lady friend... right?

Adding gas to the fire, today I invited another customer/friend (Jason) to come along. He has a Commander Hemi, all stock, so I'm sure he won't be driving for part 2. I guess he'll have to squeeze into my TJ's back seat. I'm no pro, but I did once own an XD9000i and used it on a few...

Suck it up, Mike! I've got to be at work the next morning, too (okay, not until 8:30... but, still) and I'll be there for the whole event. :p Remind me to tell you the story of when two friends and I ran Rattlesnake and Constrictor one Friday beginning at 6pm, only to break 2 of the 3 rigs...

    Another mid-west transplant, from MI

Welcome to Utah and welcome to RME. I don't know how you found this forum, but I'm glad you did--we'll make a good support group for you. ;) What kind of work are you looking for?

Forgive me for not being intimately familiar with the Samurai, but are its rockers shaped similarly to a Jeep? In other words, does the body more or less just end with a 90^ straight edge? If so, you may be in luck. My friend Quinn (I don't think he's on this forum) has a YJ with some...

    New guy from Saratoga Springs

Welcome to the forum! Glad you found out about it. Attending the 'Noob night run' Steve mentioned would be a great way to meet some more wheelers.

Snakes night run Feb 26th 2011

Oh, okay. Well I'm sure you'll come up with a creative way to make them better. I hope to be able to stop by one evening and perhaps I'll see if I can offer any helpful suggestions.

    Snakes Trip Report Feb 26

This. Fun is getting out there and enjoying your rig in its current state. Is it as built up as you like? Of course not. But ask anybody here if their rig is truly "done" and they will be forced to answer no--there is always another mod we'd like to add. So don't let budgetary concerns stop...

Snakes night run Feb 26th 2011

Way back in the day, I owned an XJ. I installed rock sliders on it, though I cannot recall which brand they were. They had two arms that bolted to the frame rails like yours, but there were also brackets attached to the arms which bolted to the pinch weld of the unibody in a few spots. The...

Snakes night run Feb 26th 2011

Steve- In another thread, you said you got rocker panel damage on your rig despite having installed your new sliders. Why/how did that happen? Are the sliders not strong enough (they bent under the pressure)? Did you find an irregularly-shaped rock that got past the sliders? What happened?

I've seen the pictures (thanks for posting them!) and I have to ask: how/why did the 4Runner roll? Was it just a loss of control at high speed?

Hmm, there is less snow than I expected. Too bad I am stuck at work.

No, I don't own that Jeep anymore. I'll be driving my current Wrangler, which is the black '98 Sport you've seen. BTW: 'Tigger' was my wife's personalized plate. After moving it from car to car a few times, she decided to retire it. I, on the other hand, continue to use my infamous...

New and improved New Member night run - March 11th (Updated)

Back when my wife and I owned his & her TJs, I took hers through Rattlesnake. It had a budget boost and wore 31" MT/Rs. It did not have any body armor, though it did have the factory plastic sidesteps. Going through the rock garden, I managed to remove the passenger side step from the...

Count me in. I'll be driving my '98 TJ with its pegleg diffs, 31" tires (plus my budget boost will be installed by then), and some armor. Based on past experience, I should have no trouble running Rattlesnake, so I'll probably stick around for that run. Don't know if I'll have any seats...

So it's set then. Do you intend to take an easy route (read: not Rattlesnake) to get there?

UPDATED: "The old thread about the noob run at Hog Hollow"

This is a very wise decision. We're trying to introduce people to this hobby, not scare them off from it. Simple graded dirt roads ought to work well. I think it would be fantastic if we could find a steep hill or two so people can learn how to properly climb (and, more importantly, how to...
