    Auburn ECTED

My son in law has one in his xj dana 30 front axle and has had lots of problems getting it to reliably lock and unlock. He has even sent it back to the factory with no resolution.

I found the nasty noise in my son's comanche

Well I swapped out the bad mounts, would have been done a lot sooner but the right side mount was a pain. I couldn't get the mount out because the bushing bolt hits the oil filter housing so I had to take the mount bracket off the block. Jeep uses an "expletive deleted" torx bolt on one of the...

I found the nasty noise in my son's comanche

Well he is back east on a mission so that may be a bit tough. My wife drives it all over so maybe I should have her fix it ;) I have plenty of stock motor mounts in the parts pile but wish I had some of the heavy duty offroad mounts to put in it.

I found the nasty noise in my son's comanche

Well my son's comanche started making a bad grinding/scraping sound when we would go through gutters or other bumps at high speed. It sounded like tires rubbing on the fenders but I couldn't find any spot that showed rubbing. So I started looking at other areas that could make nasty noises. I...

    NPLD @ 5 Mile Pass; September 29, 2007

The wife and I plan on being there and probably my son in law (two large and one extra large). Last year I wished I had brought my junk hauling trailer, are we needing to haul large stuff like last time or lots of small stuff ? I also have a small Bantam jeep trailer that I can bring if the...

    95 XJ cooling fan problem

The 91 and 92 were for autos so they should work. I may even test it by manually changing the sensor resistance once the engine is warm to see if I can force it to turn on.

    95 XJ cooling fan problem

I did swap out his temp sensor becuse it was reading a bit too high but the replacement one does the same thing. Maybe I'll try another one. The sensor seems to be doing the right thing once I turn the fan on by toggling the AC on and off.

    95 XJ cooling fan problem

I have been out trying to figure out why my son in law's 95 XJ is overheating going up hills. What I found was that his fan clutch was bad and I swapped that which helped but the main problem is that his secondary electric fan isn't turning on. The electric cooling fan is enabled by the computer...

    Fishing

Our family is totally addicted to fishing. We have been up to the Gorge three times this year and have had a blast catching bass, macs, rainbows and kokanie. I even got one of those ugly burbots this winter up there. I hooked into a really big mac near where muleskinners pictures were taken but...

    XJ ? Temp sensor

The thermostatic switch type will read open when cold and 0 ohms when hot (normally open) or opposite if normally closed. The resistive type will read something like 8k ohms cold and less as it heats up. If you need a good meter to check it stop on by.

    XJ ? Temp sensor

You can measure the old sensor to see if it is a thermostatic switch or a resistive type sensor. Once you know what type it is you might be able to find a newer style sensor that could replace the old one. You could also go back to the older radiator and still leave the system open like I did on...

    XJ ? Temp sensor

On the 91-95 xjs the sending unit in the back of the head doesn't go to the computer at all, just the gauge. The one in the thermostat housing does go to the computer and controls the fan. On the 96+ there isn't a rear sending unit since the computer also runs the gauges. When I built my...

    XJ ? Temp sensor

I just went out and looked at my son's 87 mj and there isn't a temp sender in the radiator. His motor has the one in the rear of the head which is used to run the temp gauge in the dash. On the 91-95 motors the dash gauge sender does not go to the computer at all it just runs the gauge and I...

    GM's Eaton Rearends

The axle that was in my old 72 Chev 3/4 was an Eaton HO72. It was a stout axle that didn't give me much trouble. The width was pretty much stock full width but since I don't have it anymore I couldn't tell you the exact width.
