    Attn: Tacoma.... Support group available...?

Yeah I need to find this support group or at least enough guys to come over and pick up parts. I had someone from RME come by and when they went into my basement for a part they said " I need to bring my wife over here, when she sees this she won't complain about my stuff anymore". Tacoma...

Whats up with this 4.0 ?

Yeah I was mumbling quite a bit too. At least I have another Jeep that can use the motor I bought.

Whats up with this 4.0 ?

I am trying to fix a friends 99 Grand Cherokee that they toasted the motor in. The original motor was run out of water after a bad head gasket leak. I took the head off and found water in all but one cylinder. One cylinder had obviously been sucking water for a while since it was steam cleaned...

Dana 300 popping out of low range

A stiffer spring does help so shim it with a washer if you can't find a new spring. Sometimes where the ball rides on the shift rail gets worn down and some people file the detent spot a bit more abrupt so it won't slide out as easily. When you put the lower 4:1 gears in there is more torque...

Dana 300 popping out of low range

There is a spring and ball above the shift rail that if too loose will let it walk out. My old 300 did it and on my new 300 I made sure it was tight. I would replace the spring and ball. The shift rail could also be worn a bit so i would check it out also.

    U4WDA Compass

I got mine today and really liked it, especially the DATC article that actualy shows part of my jeep in the picture (fourth one in the picture). My rig looked pretty tame next to all of those wild tube buggies. Joel even talks about my jeep in the third paragraph of the article.

Need machine work on 4.0 heads and bearings

I have two 4.0 engines that both had head gasket leaks. One was a very slow leak and the other was a multiple cylider monster leak. From what I can see the heads and blocks don't look cracked but I think both heads should be checked out for cracks or warping. The one that had multiple cyliders...

    Turbo 400 into 77 CJ7?

My old 77 cj7 came with the th400 stock. It had quadratrac originally and I swapped in a d300. The AA adapter for the d300 was 4-5 inches long which made my rear driveline 17 inches long. I had about 3 inches of lift and the rear driveline had a 22 degree angle (with a CV joint). The angle made...

99 Grand Cherokee cooling fan question

Well I got a new radiator in it and the fan control module working but it is still overheating. The top radiator hose is under way too much pressure and the overflow bottle is bubbling even before it gets very hot. I'm going to see if the thermostat is stuck shut but I'm afraid it may have a...

98 TJ lean to the right

Stop listening to Sean Hannity on your Jeeps radio ;). On my jeep I also have a lean to the right and I found that the front right body mount was lower than the mount on the other side. If you want to see if it is the springs or shocks swap the shocks (then front springs) left to right, measure...

99 Grand Cherokee cooling fan question

I had that idea too but there is a threaded stub that sticks out of the water pump so I would either have to find a fan clutch that threads on or change the water pump. I also know that the computer stores codes for fan relay issues so I would need to figure out how to keep it from logging error...

Sooo....what would you want to restore?

I learned how to drive in our old 68 Camaro, wish we hadn't sold it. If I could talk my neighbor out of it I would love to finish up his 63 corvette convertable restoration, red/white with the big chrome side pipes. It just sits in his garage with a big cover on it. Another old guy in our...

99 Grand Cherokee cooling fan question

The aftermarket relay is wired up so that the enable to the relay comes from the factory fan relay and the power comes directly from the battery so without the signal from the factory relay the aftermarket relay doesn't come on. I thought I had found the factory relay under the right side...

99 Grand Cherokee cooling fan question

A friend of mine overheated their 99 Grand Cherokee and wanted me to figure out whats wrong. What I found was that there wasn't a normal fan and fan clutch but just an aftermarket electric fan and relay setup on it that the previous owner had put on it. When they first got it the fan would never...

If you forgot your oil at Waynes World I have it

I'm sure the bypasses on either side of WW aren't going to help either. While we were there we saw ATV riders using them.

If you forgot your oil at Waynes World I have it

It would have made an ugly mess. Luckily we had some drink containers with lids so I was able to pour it into them. Getting up Wayne's World was not easy with the greasy mud at the bottom. Of the three that tried it only one made it and he used quite a bit of pedal to make it.

If you forgot your oil at Waynes World I have it

We were out at the snakes today and spent some time at Waynes World and someone left a huge drink container full of gear lube sitting on the hillside, so if you want it back I brought it home for you.
