    2o5 tcase brace

I looked on my 85 1 ton that has the same combination and there is a brace that goes from the two holes on the 205 up to one of the tranny mounting bolts above the starter. I think I have a spare brace from an 86 1 ton. On my old 72 Chev that I used to have there was a bracket that went to the...

    Power steering question

I have a PS gearbox and pump from a Wagoneer. They will bolt up to a cj but are 3.5 turns stop to stop where the cj one is 4.5. The hose fittings are different on the older ones vs the newer cjs so you will need to watch out for that. On my cj8 project I am using a 99 TJ gearbox, bolts up fine...

    So, I got rear-ended today...

If you need a tire carrier I have one from a 99 TJ. I was in a UTA bus once when the driver miscalculated the distance and he drove his rear wheel into the back corner of a stopped Mustang when he was trying to change lanes on Foothill at 13th south. I had a great view since I was in the seat...

    Another newbie!

Uncle Dave-- you sure I can make Rattlesnake? Isn't that where you met the guy who was selling his Rubicon? Paul has a bit bigger lift than mine and an automatic, but if you're sure I can do it, then I trust you... Ev had me under the impression that I would NEVER make it... but then again he is...

    Another newbie!

Isn't rattlesnake a little more dangerous? Or is that just something I've been told by relatives to keep me nice and safe? ;) Em, Paul made it up rattlesnake in his cherokee last fall, wasn't sure he could but he made it. He has 3 inches of lift but only 30 inch tires that are more of a...

    jeep techs, I need help!

The guages in your 98 are run by your engine control computer. The engine sensors go to the computer first then the computer sends signals to the gauges. I have seen where a loose connection on the back of the instrument cluster will cause the guages to act up. Dave

    Camping/Shooting with the scouts

I have seen scout groups on the south end of Stansbury Island. There is an old gravel pit area where lots of people go shooting. If you go a bit farther west on I80 there are lots of remote areas on the Lakeside, Cedar, or the Grassy mountains where I used to take my scouts. You can get away...

I found out I did a bad thing...

Well I went to the scrap metal place that told me about the law with all of the pieces covered with a big tarp. The guy out back in the unloading area checked the VIN number, which I luckily had on top, against the title and gave me no trouble. He didn't even ask why it was all cut up. I also...

I found out I did a bad thing...

I called around today to find out who would give me the most money for this old wagoneer I am scrapping out. When one of the scrap metal people found out I cut the thing up so that it would fit in my trailer they told me that I broke Utah state law. They said I couldn't cut it up unless I had a...

    Tattoos WHO has them?

None for me ! I have enough scars from weld blobs that got down my sleeves, pocket knives that slipped, hatchets that missed the mark, exacto knife that went through my thumb , chainsaw across the knee, and plenty of assorted glass cuts from when I was a dumb kid. Dave

Difference between CJ and YJ springs

The rear springs are the same width and length with the only difference being the size of the spring eye on the shackle end of the spring. The front springs are close to the same length but are 2.5 inches wide where the cj ones are 2 inches wide. The shackle eye is also different. Alot of people...

    TRANNY SWAP would it work?

The aw4 needs the control computer as mentioned in the previous post but also needs an adapter to fit to the d300. The bolt patterns are the same but the input seal on the 300 hits the output seal of the aw4. The adapter is about 7/8 inch thick and also clocks the d300 up. I put an 4.0/aw4/d300...

    Welder poping breaker

The value I quoted of 25 A came from the directions for my Lincoln SP125 plus. Dave

    Welder poping breaker

If you are using the 125 plus on its highest setting it requires a 25 amp service. Most home circuits for 120 V are at most 20 Amp. So I wouldn't use it on its highest setting, and also make sure you aren't sharing the circuit with other things that are turned on at the same time. You could put...

    Home Electronics repair

I have picked up parts from Interwest Electronics (4091 South State) and have seen speakers that they have repaired so you might give them a call. When my speakers go bad I break out the voltmeter and fix them myself since I built them. Dave
