    Xj upper control arm bushings

Is it anything like a leaf spring bushing, just drill the rubber until you can't drill anymore then remove the pieces? Nathan

Jeep Nathan and Tanja's 99 XJ Build up

So the other day I said to my wife "this winter I am going to re-make the broken plastic center console bracket out of metal to stiffen up the center console" Then I was flipping through quadratec and saw this... http://www.quadratec.com/products/12249_7390.htm It is $50.00 If I build it, I...

Death Wobble with Hydro-assist cause return line to pop off?

Clayton seems to like to have a bushing on one end of the control arms for uni-body vehicles, and it kind of makes sense to have one more thing that can suck up some vibration. My rear lowers have a bushing on the axle end. However their "pro" kit which I have up front is all johnny joints...

    South-East Utah Moab "RocktoberCrawl" Oct 20 - 23 2016

We will be driving down on Friday 10/21, wheeling on Sat/Sun, driving home on Mon. So we have a little less stress than you on getting off the trail on Sun. I am still nervous about Pritchett. The last time I did it was in the Bronco and I tested a "new" winch anchor on Chewy... literally I...

Death Wobble with Hydro-assist cause return line to pop off?

Maybe I have been fortunate enough to never experience a full on DW. Planman has added a checklist to that post I linked to, I will go through it step by step. At this point I am thinking that I had some weird thing where the return line popped off the steering box, and the ram did something...

Check engine light and cylinder misfire codes

That is true my father in law put some stupid "E" plugs in his ZJ and the XJ (my wife had the xj before we met... it was stock..) after about a year they both had mis-fire issues, he was in CA and had to pay a shop to diagnosis and fix. (I have run Bosch without issues, but Champion is usually...

Death Wobble with Hydro-assist cause return line to pop off?

bad shocks should in no way contribute to death wobble. neither should a steering stabilizer "fix" a death wobble. If you haven't seen this, it is very good. It is for a JK but all the parts are the same. (except the metric bolt in the SAE hole that early JK's had...)...

Jeep Nathan and Tanja's 99 XJ Build up

If you didn't see posts #12 and #17, I welded the frame stiffeners to the Clayton suspension bracketry. Primarily all my suspension hangs off the Frame Stiffeners/Clayton cross members. The rear coil bucket is some what tied in with some plating. I didn't go near the front coil seats but...

Jeep Nathan and Tanja's 99 XJ Build up

A couple shots of the rear. I didn't have to make any additional modifications. The cover does have a little tiny nub sticking out past the housing. If I am under there with a grinder I will hit it. Or it might be self clearanceing... Overall I am happy with the covers. I want to pick up...

Check engine light and cylinder misfire codes

I am sure this isn't it but if we are stabbing in the dark... On my 07 f350 the evap canister clogged up and after running for a while the fuel tank would have negative pressure, i would get multiple random miss-fires, the v10 would start to run poorly, as we were troubleshooting it I...

Jeep Nathan and Tanja's 99 XJ Build up

final test fit I did weld the inside and covered the inside of the weld with gray RTV. the patch is above the oil level (although it will get splash off from the ring gear) so even if it leaks it shouldn't leak much. I also didn't take pictures of the welds... MikeGyver I am not... Here is...

Jeep Nathan and Tanja's 99 XJ Build up

Far too long for an update, really didn't do much this summer, only went wheeling a few times. I changed my differential fluid in the spring and noticed that my rear diff cover had a dent that had pushed the cover into the ring gear. So I ordered a pair of covers from Ruff Stuff Specialties...

Death Wobble with Hydro-assist cause return line to pop off?

I drove it a few more times couldn't get a DW. I did get what I have always had, hit the train tracks, I can feel one wobble then it smooths out. I put it up on jack stands and found significant play in the swivel eyes on my surplus center hydro ram. The only thing I found on how to protect...

    South-East Utah Moab "RocktoberCrawl" Oct 20 - 23 2016

We always go in October, I usually seem to see Shane driving by on some trail or something, I have to ask him if needs some welding rod... I still have not had the Cherokee on Golden Spike and would like to cross that off the list. I haven't seen Prittchett in so long, I am sure it would...
