BTW this worked great. I ran it for over a minute as close to the initial startup as possible. The oil pressure gauge came up past 1/2 way with the drill powering it. I also used the shaft to turn the oil pump so the distributor would drop in correctly. Nathan

I just wanted to update this thread. Yes you can modify an oil pan for clearance. Usually it is done in cars where someone wants to put a bigger motor in or better steering/suspension. I cut it, I had MikeGyver weld it, it seems to have worked out well. I will have to show it to my exhaust...
