2000 XJ front tires toeing out on bottom

I have learned a new word. Apparently my problem is that I have a negative camber angle on my front tires. I hope that explains it better if my verbal illustrations weren't clear in the original post. So if anyone knows how to adjust the camber on an XJ, I would be very thankful.

2000 XJ front tires toeing out on bottom

Quick question: Recently replaced my ball-joints, tie rod, and both steering knuckles. Upon completion of the repairs, the XJ is driving better than it has in a long time, but I have noticed that the bottoms of the front tires stick out a tad bit farther to the side than the tops of the...

XJ Steering U-joints: Greasable vs non...?

Wish that I could... I would, but I'm in southern GA right now for the Air Force. So I would have to get them from a national distributer or a website of some kind. The kind you mentioned, are those greasable or not? And still, what's the difference?

XJ Steering U-joints: Greasable vs non...?

Both U-joints in the front of my 2000 XJ have long outlived their life and are very loose and making noises when I steer. Time to change them along with the tie rod and some other odds and ends... I have never done this before, but I have access to some experienced guys who will help me and...

Bad ball joint? Easy to replace?

I have a 2000 XJ which I have put through the ringer, and now there is a very bad sounding metallic clunk in the front suspension every time I turn the vehicle, but most especially at low speeds where the turning is sharper. The steering has also gotten very mushy. From what I've been able to...

Clanging hubs. What could it be?

Okay, I see what you mean. I'll check that out. Thanks!

Clanging hubs. What could it be?

Just got new wheel bearings in, so those are fine. Not sure what a needle bearing is... I need to take it apart, lube everything, and put it back together nice and tight to makes sure that's not it. If it still does it, I'll have to explore further...

Clanging hubs. What could it be?

What could be the problem with the U joint? Could it be that I may just need to lube it? (I haven't done that in quite a while...)

Clanging hubs. What could it be?

I'm pretty sure it's not the wheel bearings. Something I tried to test that was I tunred the wheels from side to side while the jeep was stationary. It still did it while the wheels weren't turning, so I think that would cancel out the wheel bearings. Am I wrong in assuming that? -Brian

Clanging hubs. What could it be?

Yeah, Dana 30. I'll check the brake caliper out. I'm hoping I just put something together wrong when I put it back together, wouldn't be the first time. Thanks for the two suggestions so far, if anyone has any other possibilities in mind, I'm all ears! -Brian

Clanging hubs. What could it be?

2000 XJ, 5" w/ 32s I recently had the seals go out in one of my front hubs, and since the other side was about to go out too, I put new ones in on both sides of the front. Now for some reason I'm getting a clanging sound from the front. When I drivbe straight, nothing, no noise...

    How to water-proof an XJ?

So the air flowing out of the exhaust will be enough to keep the water from running in? I drove mine into some deep water not too long ago, but I went in too fast and got a ton of water in the engine via the intake. I was able to pull the spark plugs, and turn the engine until it all came...

    How to water-proof an XJ?

Obviously the biggest issue is the air intake, which a snorkel would fix, but is it a problem if water goes above the level of the exhaust, filling the pipe with water?

    Car won't start - battery won't accept a jump

Nope, if you disconnect the battery, it will not run. The alternator couldn't power the vehicle because the power it generates fluctuates as the RPMs change, that and disconnecting the battery severs the connection, so it's no longer connected anyway. I would imagine that as you approach the...

    How to water-proof an XJ?

Aside from a snorkel, what would I need to do to waterproof my 2000 XJ?

    Considering a Nissan XTerra

Hickey is right, get an XJ. You can find a nice XJ for around $10k, which would leave you money to put in a flowmaster and cold air intake to up the gas mileage. Give it a 3" lift and 31s, and it's decently capable off-road while still being family friendly. But then again, I own an XJ...

    Car won't start - battery won't accept a jump

As far as the alternator goes, if it goes out, the car will run as long as the battery has charge, then it will cut out. All electrical systems run from the battery which charges from the alt.. A bad battery or a bad alternator would make the car undrivable even with a push start. If your...

    Car won't start - battery won't accept a jump

Bad Starter Motor? It sounds to me like it's the starter motor. Though this wouldn't explain why the battery was dead, it would explain why the car wouldn't start even with a good charge, but would run when push started. I had a Civic with the same problem, it just wouldn't do anything when I...

    RattleSnake/Constrictor 4-23

Does anyone have a good pic of the waterfall at Constrictor? I'd like to know how tough this thing is... I'm not the type to back down, and if I go up to it, I'll try it even if I know I probably won't be able to do it. So if I have a good idea what it's like, I'll know if I should stay away...
