Christmas is coming fast but I'm still putting in the work to hit my 450 dead and 320 bench goals. I worked up to a 5x5 at 405 tonight and it was feeling good. I think I can make it.

Eh - it's not that I'm dying to do a hundred pushups or anything, I just want to be in shape enough that I can. Maybe that's a small difference, I dunno, but I feel like it matters. The pushups aren't a goal themselves, they're just a metric to help me know when I'm getting to where I want to be, does that make sense?

Dude honestly I think push-ups are a good metric to measure how good you are push-ups. You could get really good at push-ups by doing push-ups every day I don't necessarily think that means that you're in shape just because you can do a lot of push-ups . Like right now I'm the strongest of ever been but I couldn't run 3 miles right now. Just my Opinion but just for good overall fitness it's going to take combination of strength training and cardio and you probably not going to be great at either unless you have some type of genetic talent in that area. If better general overall fitness is your goal maybe do jump squats one night and push-ups the next Then maybe pull-ups followed by lunges

I'm at peace with the fact I'm going to be a weakling for the rest of my life. It just is what it is. But I've been walking 3 to 5 miles almost every day for ten years straight. And have started to do a lot of jump rope and burpees. I might be in the best shape for hunting I have ever been. At 51 years old.

Just saying, you have to work with what you have. You. And make the best of it you can for whatever purposes or reasons motivates you the most.

I kicked 100 pushups ass a year and a half ago. But that was then and this is now and my reality is that 100 pushups is in the past. Never going to be there again.

Just work towards something that has meaning for you, within your personal reality and your quality of life will thank you for it.

Back from the dead, just wondering if anyone is still working on this. I never really started the program, just made myself start doing pushups if I found myself sitting still to long. Been working well I think. I can do 2-3x as many push-ups per "set" as I did when I started and I dont' have a scale but I think i've lost at least 10 lbs. I've lost a notch on my belt and nearing losing a second notch. Haven't really been doing much more than this other than riding the bike. I haven't had time to ride a lot with school so i'd attribute most of the weight loss to just pushups. Started this in early August

Awhile ago I picked up a drum set and played for a couple hours the first night.
Haven't played in 15 yrs and
sure was sore the next day.
It's good exercise though.
Probably ride the bikes more and give this a try.

Bringing this thread back to life.
I have made a goal to do 10k pushups. Not any set amount in a row but I'm guessing by 10k mark, I should be able to do 100 straight.

I am getting a jump start on the new years resolution. I actually started first part of October. I broke the 1K mark yesterday.

I've done a challenge every several months that my uncle came up with that in one month you would work yourself up to 500 in one day. It's brutal but effective... my problem has always been keeping it up after I finish the challenge...

Is there still a "schedule" out there somewhere for the 100 push up deal? Sounds fun

I hate you... Not for the physical strength but the mental discipline. Only a few short years ago I could demolish an Army PT test 2:00 minute max in under a minute.

I'm "approaching" old now, and I hate it. I still vividly remember doing pull ups or push ups and having 2-3 screaming children under 10 all hanging/piling on me and continuing on for 5-10 more reps. F@#$ excuses and back injuries

Seriously though, I tip my hat to you for the heart and dedication. Keep it up; I'll do better.

This thread just makes me feel old and weak. I'm not going to even try. I don't want to know...

I already know I'm old and weak. The last time I tried to do push ups everything in my shoulders went snap crackle and pop. Like DAA I can hike a long ways at least until the knees start acting up..... Getting old sucks.

I am in the best physical shape of my life at 44. Sadly I'm also in the beginning of wear and tear starting to be a factor.
Getting old isn't wonderful but it beats the alternative.
