Im trying to undo all the crap from the previous owners of the camaro along with some nuisance problems.
First was the radio and windows randomly shutting off while driving or parked.
After trouble shooting and research, I found that the solder on the Retained Accessory Power relay (RAP) on the Body Control Module (BCM) circuit board likes to develop micro cracks. Solder repair and good as new.
Next was no dome lights.
I know there was previously an aftermarket alarm in the car, from the leftover relay block behind passenger kick panel (I removed it when I repaired the RAP relay in the BCM)
After spending my afternoon working on the car. I have deemed that the issue with the dome lights is inside the BCM. (I had this issue previous to my RAP relay solder job.)
So I wired in a relay to simulate the functions. I didnt cut any wires, just tapped into power, chassis ground, dome light ground, and the signal wires from the switch, doors, and trunk.
The lights dont turn on when unlocking the doors, but I can live with that. I may work on that feature with an aftermarket alarm at a later date.
Im getting more familiar with this car than I wanted!
