Yeah, little stuff.

Air lid, exhaust, and a few other little things for now.

eventually cam, tuning, and headers.

At this altitude it should be around a 14 sec. car.

Not impressive, but not horrible either.

Salt lake to Boise, cruise set at 82 mph, other than holiday traffic and construction. With a headwind, car got 23 mpg.

Havent filled and calculated the return trip yet.

Grrrr, previous owners or shops, whoever worked on this thing bugs me!

The 98-00 had and ls1 intake with egr system.
01-02 had an ls6 intake with no egr system.

My car has an 01-02 passenger side exhaust manifold which does not have the provisions for an egr system. Which means when the egr sytem opens, instead of recirculating exhaust gasses into the intake, its actually dumping unfiltered, unmetered air into the manifold.
So egr delete is coming! I cant unplug the solenoid untill I edit the computer, but I can remove the pipe from the intake and seal up the hole. The pipe restricts the airflow into the engine anyway. Either way its an improvement.

Here is the restrictive tube in the intake:

Here is my unhooked tube:

I pulled the EGR pipe from the intake, and plugged the hole. GM actually makes a EGR plug kit, but a 1 3/8" freeze plug is perfect. Once I get the PCM tuned to remove the EGR system, I will be removing the rest of the parts.

Spent my day working on the stereo install. Its a bunch of work since the car came as 1.5 DIN size. One of the P.O. had installed a crap single DIN stereo. Unhappy with the sound or adjustability, I decided to go to a Double DIN Pioneer.

Here are the progress pics:

The silver/gray was a rust-oleum hammered to get a texture back. If I like the color it stays, if not it will be going closer to the stock dark gray or black.

The wiring was also fun..

I had to wire in a relay to send a ground signal to the deck once it turned on, to simulate that the parking brake was set. This allows the video function to operate while the car is in motion.

No, this is not so I can watch while driving.

The wife like to watch while on road trips, and I just listen. Its also nice not having the warning message while an ipod is connected.

No not yet... But since I removed the rest of the system, its not sensing any flow. So the SES light is driving me nuts!

Its on my list of things to do monday.

Im trying to undo all the crap from the previous owners of the camaro along with some nuisance problems.

First was the radio and windows randomly shutting off while driving or parked.

After trouble shooting and research, I found that the solder on the Retained Accessory Power relay (RAP) on the Body Control Module (BCM) circuit board likes to develop micro cracks. Solder repair and good as new.

Next was no dome lights.

I know there was previously an aftermarket alarm in the car, from the leftover relay block behind passenger kick panel (I removed it when I repaired the RAP relay in the BCM)

After spending my afternoon working on the car. I have deemed that the issue with the dome lights is inside the BCM. (I had this issue previous to my RAP relay solder job.)

So I wired in a relay to simulate the functions. I didnt cut any wires, just tapped into power, chassis ground, dome light ground, and the signal wires from the switch, doors, and trunk.

The lights dont turn on when unlocking the doors, but I can live with that. I may work on that feature with an aftermarket alarm at a later date.

Im getting more familiar with this car than I wanted!

Then decided to change the flange gasket between the manifold and pipe after dark tonight.

All went smooth! (Other having to get the gasket at the dealer!)

Auto Headlamp Bypass Feature:

I bypassed my automatic headlights with a relay and an additional fog lamp switch. When the switch is in the on position, the led is on, and relay is in the open position. This shows that the automatic headlight function is active.

When the switch is in the off position, it powers the relay to make a connection between the ambient light sensor wires, effectively disabling the auto headlamps and daytime running lamps.

Daytime Running Lamp removal:

I just found the inputs and outputs to the DRL module and connected the wires to each other.

Permanent solution for having the front turn signal bulbs lit up while driving.

Any intestererest in a used STS Turbo kit? I know a guy who's selling his '02 SS and might sell the turbo kit seperate. I'm sure he'd be more that willing to give you a ride in it if you were interested.

I would love too, but I really dont have the funds for it.

3 modified 4x4's and the SS take a toll on the $$$

Ripped out the front grille. Not sure if this mod will stay or not.

I would like this (with grille mounting holes fixed)

Wife wants some kind of grille (factory type ss grille?)

I agree with the aftermarket grille. The stock one went without notice until I saw the aftermarket and looked back at your pics...I agree it's gotta go.

My brother in law owned one of the last year Camaro SS (before they brought it back again) and that thing was unreal. He later traded it for a new 08 Vette. All i've got to say is I LOVE Chevy sports cars! Man they were fun to drive.
