I’d guess electric since that’s what they’ve been using in the F150 for 10 yearsAnybody know, does the full size Bronco use a hydraulic assist rack? Is is it electric over mechanical? I see that the Sport models (the smaller ones) appear to only use an electric drive input like most small cars these days.
Just wondering, my 2019 Chevy 1500 work truck has a one piece electric rack, so was wondering if they integrated something similar into the Bronco.
It sounds like, I’m addition to the “severe duty” steering rack and tie rods, Ford performance is rolling out a “front drive unit” (I assume that means a differential) capable of accepting up to 5.38 gears.
They are also rolling out a performance tune for the 4 cylinder.
This is exactly why I was asking about the steering rack previously being electric or hydraulic. I think due to the electronics, it’ll put a major damper on any aftermarket companies producing anything anytime soon. I also know though that a lot of the small electric units used in small cars can be bypassed to run in a fail safe mode that will give you full turning speed at all times, so I wonder if such a bypass could be used here too.I caught a podcast last night where Drew Peroni talked about his steering breakage. One important thing to note is, that because the Bronco uses an electric steering rack, a replacement needs to be calibrated after install. In short, it doesn’t sound like trail fixes of the steering rack are a possibility.

Wow. It took me a minute to realize this wasn’t a rendering. Stunning.View attachment 142246View attachment 142245

This guy (delfab on Instagram) posted pics of his SAS, full hydro, bronco project with chromatic stripes (from the gen 2 78-89 broncos). He also 3d printed a grill that mimics the first gen Broncos. Pretty neat. 😎
Oh I'd drive the crap out of that!View attachment 142246View attachment 142245
