This really isn't the 'centrist' view you're claiming. These are pretty far to the left field talking points and I don't know anybody that thinks trump is the 2nd coming. That's bonkers.
I have talked to a few in my in-laws circle that feel he is "appointed by God" So there are plenty out there that believe he can do very little wrong and will find no fault in him what-so-ever. This does not only apply to Trump. Obama had similar die- hard fans (although I don't think he fed them and relished in it the same way)
When I say this though it is a little tongue-in-cheek. He is thought of VERY highly by a lot of people. I mean come on, to not see that is just being ridiculous. He is thought of by his followers much in the way the Obama was thought of by his followers (remember his BS Noble Peace Prize?) They think somehow these people are the best, it's a cult of personality and Trump plays the cult leader to a T, and a lot of his supporter (certainly not nearly all Trump voters) love him and think he can do no wrong.
I really want to know where this narrative started, I’ve never seen anything that would lead me to believe this is his agenda, maybe I just have my head in the sand.
And as
@J-mobzz said I 100% am not a trumper, but I voted for him because not Harris.
At least Trump was actually voted for in the primary, and not installed. But I believe the path the Democratic Party is on far more resembles a dictatorship. As much as the two party system sucks, still better than the one party system like the dems trying to make the rest of the country emulate California.
Outside of his stupid "Dictator for one day" or whatever comment, I honestly believe that is something he would LOVE to be. He has not been shy about his admiration for many of the world's dictators. He may be a little vague about it, but he certainly does have a thing for them, and I do believe, his ego would love nothing more than to be one in the US.
That's not what I see. But I don't watch much TV. Don't do any social media aside from a few forums. Don't have a "feed", don't click on any of the crap that pops up here and there.
All I have to go by is the people I talk to. And those people are NOT coming together. No way.
My generation was accustomed to taking care of business and just getting shit done and not giving a **** about anyone's feelings. Not even our own. Compromise was how you got shit done most of the time. And getting shit done was what mattered.
There is none of that in the younger generations.
And even my generation, most I know, are either like me, just so fed up we have completely tuned out and just don't GAF anymore. Or, feeling so burned by "compromise" over the last 20 years they are now what the other side (whichever side) calls "radical".
My youngest is 22. All she wants is to get an education, get a good job, buy a house, have kids, live her life. Rightly or wrongly, she very strongly believes that liberal policies are an existential threat to how she wants her life to play out. Kids her age that are liberal, consider her ultra radical. For? Wanting to have a normal life and not be ****ed with by liberals.
I just don't see that vast majority of centrists. I could believe the vast majority would self identify as such. But, they don't act like it. And they aren't going to start. They see each other as enemies, because really, when you bring it down to the kitchen table, they ARE enemies.

I agree that the younger generations are very bad at this......I am Gen X and my in-laws are boomers, so I am seeing it more and more in the world. We can't expect a younger generation to get it when the older generations can't even handle it. Leading by example is the key.
I still firmly believe that most people are centrist and hate the fringes on both side. Unfortunately, they scream the loudest and end up picking the candidates for the parties...and the majority are left to pick. Until we start to ignore the fringes, we will continue. Also, putting your fingers in your ears does no good.
The rhetoric that the left is out to destroy this country, that it is by design is stupid and just acting like the rest. Neither side wants to destroy the country. There are differing views as to what is important, but I truly can't believe either side wants to destroy the country.
Also, I have no social media. The internet, outside of various news sites (Yahoo, which pulls from other various sites, KSL) RME, occassionally YouTube for fab, home improvement, and finance videos, I don't look at much on the internet I don't have a "feed" or see all the other crap from either side all that often.
I'm also not sure if the Pike comment about Black Piling was directed at me. I have no idea what that means, and like DAA, I'm not about to google it.
