Its probably too late, but I was going to mention cutting down a rear shaft. You pretty much loose the proper angle for the CV shaft when you lift a Toyota anyway... Either way it sounds like you have it figured out.

From what I have seen (and this varies from vehicle to vehicle) on Toyota's if you run dual cases you gain enough in driveshaft length that you may not need a longer slip yoke in the front. I wish I would have spent the money and ran another t-case or two way back when vs. paying big bucks for a longer spline shaft :-\ Something to think about...

The rest

Here are the rest:greg:The drive shaft only need to be lengthened like 2 inches and i have no up travel anyway so it works out good

I here you rot box but the only problem with my set up is: One i have to spend like 300 bucks for a V6 adapter palte so i can use a gear top shift case, two i then have to spend another 200 to 300 dollars on a dual tranfer case adapter, three i would have to buy two transfer cases, and mod the rear drive shaft, so in the end it would cost me almost a grand to do it, as were i can spend 175 on a long spline drive shaft and just gear the transfer case down. that only brings the cost to like 600 bucks over the 1000 i would need to do the duals. That said i would love to have the low crawl ratio of a dual set up but for now i will have to wait.......unless of course some one has a set up for like 50 bucks they will sell me......nnaaaa no way

It is a bit more work and money to do the duel's (and from the sounds of it in your case alot more money:eek:) But that was one of the best upgrades I've done to my truck. I love the duel cases!

I don't think anyone makes lower gears for the V6 case and even if you could I wouldn't because the chain would definately break or at least stretch and you would gernade that v6 case. IMO Duals are the best route to go or at least a single 4 cyl case with 4.7's

Oh i know Notatoy i must of not made it clear of my plans, i know there is no upgrade for the V6 case, i plan to put in a gear case with 4.7 gears, it will just have to be later when i get more money, but thanks for all the suggestions guys, i would love to eventually do a duel set up but that will be a ways down the road

if you look you can find deals, i found my dual set up with a MC07 r10 it was put together with a fresh rebuild. and i got it for 400. so they are deffinatly out there. and on ksl the other day a tripple case set up went for 400. so keep your eyes out. but do duals for sure. because with 4.7 single case it is really low or just 1:1 so inbetween obsticals on the trail sometimes its not low enough but low range is to low. the options are just nice is all i am saying.

Yeah your right the options are nice, and i have got lots of screaming deals, i will have to keep my eye open , later though if i start looking now i will find it and have no money thanks the worst, but i will go with duels if possible

Agreed many more options with the duals. I started out with a single case because I did not have to build/buy a different crossmember or modify driveshafts which actually saves quite a bit of cash... That said go duals first then 4.7's in the rear case later on its worth it in the long run and don't forget to upgrade to 23spl between the front and rear case and also get the Longfield or Marlin output shaft because those things will break from all the extra torque.... It never ends!!! $$$$ :D

Again cool build looks like its really coming together nicely

Yeah i feel it is rotbox, so far i have done a sas that when tin great, could of been a inch farther forward but it is center in my wheel well, got lower gearing, bigger tires lifted, oh and last night i installed a nice stereo deck my dad gave me out of his land crusier when he got a newer one, now i can play CD's, oh and as far as the duels i decided that i will for that route butstill later when i have more munnies

First wheeling trip kinda

:greg:Well after getting the front drive shaft done i took it out to do a little wheeling. This was the first time i have had it in 4wd since november this year, and the first time i have wheeled it with 35's, sas, and a full lift. Needless to say it did amazing, i found a cool littel spot in the hill side by weber and wheeled away, it never hesitated spun a tire or bottomed out, i was very impressed with the proformence, this all done with out my locker installed, can't wait till i get that in i'm sure i will be just as thrilled:rofl:

trip report

So i'm back from moab and it was a blast:greg: We did Hell's revenge twice, Porcipine rim, And cliff hanger in the dark. No amage to report besides a dented rear bumper. Every thing worked great, i only had time to put the locker in and the new shocks up front, so everything else has to wait:-\ But i was very pleased with the up grades, i absolutly love the locker;):);), it let me crawl up things and make it look easy. I did have a few problems:mad: On the drive down my rear pinion nut kept coming loose and leaking my diff oil every where, so i eventually locktighted it, prpblem solved. And the funny problem:rofl: my front drive shft came apart 3 times, 2 of those times were when i was just backing up or pulling out of a steep parking spot, the other was backing down a steep climb, got to bottom and it poped out, weird but it will do till i get a long spline one:hickey: I love the 4runner and hope to get some more mods done before next trip

you do know that you are supposed to take a hammer and bend in the nut to keep it from loosening don't you?? there is a groove in the pinion threads to lock it.

Yeah i do, but it never seems to line up it is like a 1/8 of a inch off from the groove, but i had ot just tighten it with the breaker bar so a impact gun would be better
