Have you guys seen this documentary? scary/amazing/powerful...a must see...

:shawn: for starting this.

I realize that you're probably trying to stir the pot, but

:BEGIN TANGENT:
I can't believe how readily people take this tripe hook, line, and sinker. EVERY DAMN DAY I see students "protesting" against global warming, and I just want to slap each and every one of them.
Don't they know that they are producing greenhouse gases? I wish they all knew that the best way to decrease one's carbon footprint is to kill yourself, and have your carcass shot into space so that your decaying body doesn't release CO2, or so that your decaying body doesn't get buried, decompose into carbon elements, get compressed and cooked over millions of years and eventually turn into oil, which some future civilization will mine and burn to power their SUV's, dumping CO2 into the atmosphere.

These global warming people want everyone to think that the climate is, and always has been, stable, and that a stable climate is good. They believe that they can predict, with authority, what the climate is doing from 100-200 years of temperature measurements, yet they conveniently ignore the "consensus" that the climate has been changing one way or another for hundreds of billions of years . . .

I do believe in global warming, but I don't think that man is a serious contributor to the "event."
One volcano eruption puts more "greenhouse" gases into the atmosphere than man can produce in 100 years . . . if greenhouse gases are causing global warming, blame Yellowstone, not my truck.

My favorite thing from this "propaganda-tary" is the claim that rises in C02 have corresponded with rises in temperature, therefore proving that man is responsible for global warming . . .
OF COURSE CO2 levels rise in proportion to temperature. Higher temperatures = more plant life (on land AND in the sea); more plant-life = more animals to eat those plants; more animals eating plants = more animals to eat those animals; and more animals = more CO2 (and when plants and animals decompose, they also produce CO2).

So far, the only "danger" that Al Gore and his legions of fellow zealots have claimed is that global warming will make the oceans rise, but, again, they have conveniently ignored the "consensus" that ocean levels have always been changing.
It's almost as if the . . . climate . . . has . . . always . . . been . . . changing . . .
We are constantly discovering new civilizations that have been buried in the ocean . . . In Greece, Italy, Israel, and Egypt archaeologists have found ancient marinas buried in 15' of water.
Oceans recede, and rise as the climate changes. It's just the way things are; just like how ice ages come and go. The last documented ice age was in the 1400's.
What happens after an ice age? The planet warms up.

I wonder if there could be impure motives in the Global Warming crowd, after all, An Inconvenient Truth is Paramount Pictures most profitable movie, EVER (yes, the same studio which brought us Top Gun, Indiana Jones, Titanic, etc . . .).

:End Tangent:

Al has been after this for a very long time. Many moons ago he wrote a book called “Earth in the Balance”. His proposal, a New World Order where mother earth is protected at all costs, via embargos, and violence (i.e. war), if the offending peoples did not comply.

Biggest offenders, the likes of Christianity, because of their “The end is near anyway” attitudes. Yes Al’s book proposed the perfect new world religion (once again enforced) to solve this little problem. Just be darn glad Al is now in the movies and not some new world order leader at this time.

Dang I wonder if this movie is going to produce a whole new generation of “the end is near, so why give a damn” enemies of the world? I know, just shoot them. Or “Al for new world order leader, our only hope!”

I wonder if he can solve the darn asteroid problem also?

Wasn't "Earth in Balance" where Algore cited that it takes X amount of trees to develop inoculations, and then questioned the worth of human life when compared to the trees we require?

Behold, AlGore, the savior of Global Warming-ism.

I bet Tom Cruise is pissed to have another one to deal with . . . (b/c he was declared the "savior"-type figure of Scientology)

Yes, if you ever get a chance to read that book, do it, it will scare you to death in hind sight, and you will be very glad that Al is out of the heavy political scene at this time.

A very scary man
