I just got back from riding in St George on my eBike and had an absolute riot. In fact, I enjoyed riding the UP trail at Bear Claw Poppy more than the down trail. I also rode Church Rocks and Dino Cliffs. I rode some others but I think I enjoyed the whole Church Rocks loop with Dino Cliffs the most. I generally ride my bike in the Auto assist setting but man is it fun in the full assist setting on uphills. I know how fun down hill riding is on mountain bikes and the reward for the up hill is always the down hill but with the electric assist, you get rewarded both directions. Without the assist, I would be out on my dirtbikes and not on a mountain bike. For those who have not ridden one, they are a blast and they do give you a workout.

How much do your ebikes weigh @rholbrook? I've heard some are upwards of 70 lbs. That is more than 2x what my bike weighs. Wonder how it feels on the downhills? I'd like one in a lot of respects and I don't agree with trail restrictions on them. If you're pedaling, you're welcome in my book. But I don't plan on getting on because not having it forces me to really work to get my butt up the hill. Then I get the reward of downhill.

I have the 2021 Giant TRANCE X E+ PRO 29 1 large frame and a 2021 Giant STANCE E+ 1 Medium frame, both are right at about 53 lbs. The downhill is amazing and the weight really makes them feel planted.

I am hoping @Gravy chimes in on the downhill feel of it. I took him up for a ride and he was amazed at how much fun they were. I will bring them down @RockChucker and we can go for a ride down in your neck of the woods. I am always game to ride.

Since there isn't much actual mountain biking going on right now, here are some links to a four part video series ($300 bike challenge) that several of us participated in. @sixstringsteve or Hardtail Party was the mastermind behind the premise and editing all the footage. @benjy and @Corban_White and myself were all involved in the shenanagins. We all had a great time riding, but I think I had even more fun building the bike. My wife was getting pretty jealous after I spent a whole month of evenings and weekends in the garage tinkering with a thirty year old bike (which I guess, technically, is a younger model than she is.) Many a night was spent giggling like a school boy in front of the truing stand or lathe. And now I have two more bikes in the the garage, since my son was also involved. More bikes is always a good thing.

I have Thursday free and the weather looks pretty favorable. I'm thinking about Goodwater Rim, anybody want to play hooky and join me?

I could be convinced to ride closer, but I want to get in a nice long ride, which for me means not a ton of climbing, and Goodwater is good for that.

This evening was the first run on the wasatch crest for me this year. Caught some rain and hail. Dropped down into park city and went down insurgent. It’s right up there with capt Ahab for favorite trail status. Good times. But man I need to ride more. Between the mileish pavement climb from the parking lot to the top of guardsmans and then puke hill, I was pretty whooped for the rest of the climbing.
