Definately XC up and up then DH down single track.

They give away stuff after each race.

Race cost 12 bucks and I think one time purchase of 10 bucks for plate number

Racked in 70 miles on the roadie. Went right pass 5 mile access.

Anyone have a 27.5" front wheel?

Looking at a hybrid 26/27.5 setup.

Missed the ball on getting a 29er

Wednesday race at Sundance starts at 1830. Show before to register.

I think a 26/27.5 hybrid would be awesome as long as you have a low BB. Sorry, I don't have one for ya. I assume you need one with a 15mm front axle?

Awesome, it'd be great to have you riding with us. Any particular reason you like that one?

It might be worthwhile to buy a cheaper bike 'till you decide what kind of riding you like. Just like wheeling, there are bikes for every type of trail. Every mtb can handle just about every trail, but most are better suited for one type of riding.

Do you want to do long 20-30 mile rides at a time? Mainly flat, wide gravel roads? Or do you like the rockier technical stuff? Do you see yourself doing small 1 foot drops and the occasional little jump in the trail?

You're definitely going to want a large. Bike sizing is super important. What's your height and your inseam measurement?

I want a good all-purpose bike. You know, that one glove that fits every hand!

I'm not set on one specific type of terrain. I'll be riding it in the desert hills around my house and up AF Canyon (and wherever else, ya'll drag me...).

I have a buddy that's really big into Mtn biking...he rides a Santa Cruz Bronson, which is "all mountain bike with bigger suspension" (his words).

He recommended a Specialized Epic, Trek Fuel, or a Cannondale RZ for me, which would get me a "cross country full suspension." This is why I'm interested in that bike I linked above.

I'm 5'10" with an inseam of 32"...and I weigh 200lbs...in case I need some HD shocks...

a bronson is an amazing bike.

Most shocks have an air chamber that can be pumped up to match your weight. Personally, I think something a little beefier than a cross country bike would be best for you. XC bikes are meant to be super light and go super long distances. They're great bikes, but they use light-weight parts. The wheels, in particular, are pretty delicate on an XC bike. I think an all mountain bike is just what you want.

I'd recommend going in to a bike shop to get sized up. I'm guessing something in the 16-18" range will fit you well. That's usually a medium size. What's your budget?

here are a few recommendations, assuming you're a size medium. These bikes are all "do it all" bikes that do every type of mountain biking quite well. They're the XJs on 33's with a rear locker of the 4x4 world.

This bike wouldn't appeal to most people, but I absolutely love it. I'm building up a similar bike right now. Since it's not full suspension, a lot of people will rule it out, but a steel hardtail is one of life's joys. Plus it'll make you a really good rider. Not the best choice for super bumpy, choppy trails, but I tent do avoid those anyway.

A little older, but a fantastic bike.

another possibility (though I think a remedy would be a better bike for you)

This bike isn't as cool as the ad thinks it is, but it could be an option. I'd offer $900.

This is the most expensive, but it's probably the best in the bunch for you. I'd take this over the epic any day. I think you'd love this bike.

Recently (in the past 10 years), mountain bikes have been modifying the wheel size they come with. In general terms, the 26" wheels are stronger, lighter, and better for aggressive riding. The 29" wheels roll over bumps better and feel faster when riding. The 650b (27.5") splits the difference. 650b is a pretty new trend, so you'll pay a lot more for those. I ride 26" wheels because I'm small, old-fashioned, and because I love jumping off every rock and root I can find (tougher to do on a bigger wheel).
