Well, we made it down Shafer switchbacks. Then my boy ate dirt and broke his wrist and we had to pull out. I'm bummed, and wanna go back. Anyone down for a fall White Rim trip?

We were the chase/support vehicle actually, so that worked out well for us. Not so hot for the rest of the group because we had their dinner and they had to wait until we caught up at nine o clock that night. Luckily they didn't go all Donner on themselves and it all worked out.

He dislocated the ulna and broke the radius. We haven't been to see the orthopedist yet, but from the xrays I don't think he's got anything to worry about.

Ian was a trooper! And thanks Kev for bringing our warm clothing and dinner all the way back into camp after visiting the hospital, you guys are great. Apart from Ian's broken arm, it was a great trip. The white rim trail ended up being a lot more fun that I thought it would be. Definitely best trip of the year so far. Great people, great scenery, and some pretty good riding. There was a LOT more elevation change than I had anticipated. I wouldn't want to do it any shorter than the 3 days we spent on the trail.

Yesterday we ran Captain Ahab, and had a blast, despite the exhaustion.

I made the mistake of checking out Steve's hydro brakes, and Oh. My. God. I spent all night looking at brake conversion setups. And since I'm looking at brakes I had to look at tires, and since I'm looking at tires I had to look at tubeless, and hey! there's a set of SPDs on sale, and I really do need a new front fork...

This bike is going to end up with more money into it than my truck if I'm not careful.

Not all hydraulic disc brakes are created equal. I'm running 203mm rotors front and rear, which makes a big difference.

I think avid BB7s are still one of the best kept secrets out there. I like them more than some hydraulic discs, and they're way cheaper.

For hydraulics, I love shimano's discs. Even their SLX and deore setups are fantastic. Add 203mm rotors and you'll never need more stopping power.
