So it's been a few months. How's everyone's running going? Anyone training for a race? I've got an easy 6 miles planned for tonight on the treadmill. I'm registered for the Half Marathon in April.

I would strongly recommend for anyone else looking for running shoes to try out Runners Corner in Orem. They carry just about every shoe you could want( besides Nike, because they are ranked 3rd to last out of all running shoe brands) and they also carry the Vibram five fingers in tons of styles and colors. They are opening up a brand new custom store soon too. Right by Costco!

Yeah, didn't they tear down your house to build the new store? Do you have some affiliation with it? Just curious, b/c I go by there everyday, and used to see your jeep out there all the time.

I've spent my fair share of $ @ runners corner :)

I'm signed up for the Ragnar, and the MS 100 the following weekend. doh!

I'm hoping to make it down to the triathlons in Lehi on the 26th of this month and in Moab on May 14th, but my time is a bit limited at the moment.

I am training for http://www.gravityplay.com/ the moab one the 26th of this month. I have been training for awhile now. The hard part is the amount of time this race takes. I will be going for 9ish hours. carving out that much time to train has been hard. and stacking the events is tough

I put in four miles yesterday. I would consider a 5k and maybe a 10K but anything beyond that requires too much training and I already run 3x a week and do other workouts 3x a week.

I picked up the Nike + Ipod over the weekend and I like it but need to use my next run to calibrate it. I ran on a track so I know the distance was 4 miles but it said 3.4 miles.

I know it's a little late but I just saw this post. First, if your foot is rolling in at 45 degrees the progrid guide 3 is not the shoe for you. That shoe is for light stability, not heavy stability. You should be in a gel 3000 or somewhere along those lines. It will help but it's not the shoe for you. I was waiting for you to chime in.:D Runners corner knows their stuff.

He married into the affiliation;) His wife is Fffast

That looks awesome!

I am pretty excited. I really need to kick this cold. I got it a little over two weeks ago and it is still hanging on. It's not your average cold for some reason. I wanted to just work through it, but couldn't do a 1 mile bike ride last week. I finally got somewhat back tues and yesterday. I did a spin class and 3.5 mile run, but that was all I had in the tank. That was really easy about 3 weeks ago. I hope I get it all back within the next 2 weeks:ugh:.

It's true, I did marry in but they do know their stuff. I have never been much of a runner until I gained 45 lbs on my mission. Met my wife a couple weeks after and lost 45 lbs in a few months. I kept running(50 mile weeks usually) for a couple years but then got too busy with work and I'd be too tired.
I decided to get back into it this year. I committed to the California Ragnar coming up in April. I committed 2 days ago! So needless to say, I started running 2 days ago. Hopefully it goes good cause I've only got a month to train.

50 mile weeks is a lot of running! I've been doing 20 - 30 mile weeks, don't think I've ever done much over 40.

help please.

i was invited to be a part of a 5 man 50 mile relay in march. i dont think they thought i would say yes. but i did. i dont know why. but i think its something i need to do. the relay will be divided into 10, 5 mile legs. of those i will be responsible for 2, not consecutive.
.

Which Ragnar were you signed up for? Did you do the Lehi Tri? Registered for the Moab one? I know you must be really busy about now.

How awesome was this race?

My wife and I just got back from Cali and we ran Ragnar there. Our team took 3rd overall. Not bad for a team that had 4 drop out and had to fill in with a 52 year old, 66 year old, and 2 others that haven't been training. We are planning on doing the Moab Redrock Relay and also do Wasatch Back Ragnar relay later this year. Also hoping to fill in with a couple trail races here and there.

I've been a bit preoccupied. I'm still signed up fro the Wasatch back, but I don't think I'll be able to do the Moab tri on May 14th. Maybe something later in the year--Lake Powell or something--when things settle down for me.

Thanks, and I didn't run in my VFF's but something similar. They are called the minimus by New Balance. They are the same idea but without toes. You should come into the store and check them out. They have quite a bit right now but they sure do go fast. Especially since VFF no longer does special orders. You get what you get.

It was crazy fun and hard. Not as hard as I expected but it took me 9 hours and 22 minutes of energy output at race pace. that part was hard. each individual activity wasn't that bad.

leg 1=bike 20.3 miles from gold bar campground to gemini bridges
leg 2=rappel down gemini bridges 275 ft
leg 3=run back up to top 5.3 miles
leg 4=bike to gemini bridges parking lot and then in moab bridge 14.5 miles
leg 5=kayak to gold bar rim campground 11.5 miles

that hardest part for me was the first bike section as most of it was up hill. If you have ever been up long canyon you can imagine it was rough biking. most people thought the kayak was the hardest part. The race favored bikers.

A > 9 hour race would really be tough. It sounds like most of the race was on the bike. I like the idea of a kayak leg instead of a swimming leg. How many ropes were set up for the rappel? I would imagine you could end up waiting there for quite a while if you arrive mid-pack.

I looked up the Minimus. They looks a lot less ridiculous than the Five Fingers.
