but of course you are, you're a jeeper. whose jeep couldn't be picked out of a lineup from at least 5 other users on this board. and 5,000 other rigs in Utah.....not cookie cutter at all, my apologies

So how is your BII any different? Other than being lifted it looks just like any other BII to any normal Joe on the street. I don't understand this true hatred you have for Jeeps.

well, my rig is one of a kind entirely, the 3rd gen front clip body-worked onto it alone sees to that. I did paint it a camouflage color, but I messed up, if I wanted to be camouflaged I should have bought a jeep it'd blend in like crazy if I did

I have nothing against jeeps, fords, chevies, 'yotas, or anything. I dislike "jeepers" (the tools who drive them) who talk down on other rigs, and say things like "ditch it" and for whatever reason its the jeepers who seem to do that, you don't encounter a guy on the trail with a samurai who goes, "oh you got a B2....ditch it because the one single experience I had with one in high school makes me qualified to make that statement"

Ok but you have already "ditched" everything about your BII that made it a BII so in essence it's not longer a BII and you are no longer an RBV guy other than the fact that you look just like any other RBV buy with a few one off touches of your own, and I'm not trying to knock on you or your work here. If you felt it necessary to ditch all the junk parts Ford put under the BII how can you sit here and argue that the BII is anything but worthless in stock form.

Unlike you I don't judge people based on what they drive. You've already labeled me a "Jeeper" who you can't stand because you think I think I'm better than anyone who doesn't drive a Jeep. I might judge your rig and I might actually hate the way it looks, which I'm not saying I do but I'm not going to let that get in the way of me having a good time on the trial.

I love the off-roading community in general. Most guys I meet are great guys and I'd wheel with most people I've met out on the trail anytime. And you know there are true brand loyalists who drive any brand. There will always be a Toyota guy or a Sami guy who can't stand the Jeep guy just because he drives a Jeep and they make that assumption based solely on what they drive.

I'll admit I hate Fords I have for a long time but I won't let that get in the way of me meeting a Ford guy on the trail and having a good time with him. But I wouldn't get that chance with you because you see Jeep and assume that I'm an asshat that thinks I'm better than you as a person.

I'm not, I am stating that I am not talking down on any one rig at all. despite having my own opinions, and modified my rig accordingly.

you drive a jeep, and you are talking down on a specific rig, and that is what I am basing my labeling of you (and other jeepers) on.

to be fair I am equally intolerant of ford guys, or chevy guys (or any one brand loyal) guy who disses other rigs/brands.

its nothing against you or anyone, we RBV guys catch hell (in the form of disrespect) from jeep guys all over the place, on the trail, at the parts store, and especially rme4x4.com. after 10 years it makes guys like me defensive and quick to argue.

I'm talking down based on experience and research not because of my bias against Fords. Ford built a terrible vehicle when they introduced the BII, they have made some good ones along the way but the BII was among the worst, and I don't hate all Fords equally but the BII is at the bottom of the barrel for me like I said based on experience and research.

I'm talking down based on experience
\

I had a wrangler with nothing but transmission, power steering, a/c problems, one after another, I eventually sold it. and rico9 (another b2 owner on this board) currently has one that has had differential (his spider gears blew out with 31" tires that just screams "quality"), and mechanical engine problems like crazy. of the 11 4wd rigs I have owned (7 of which were for RBVs), the jeep was by far the most problematic. while being more than 10 years newer and less "tired" (to use your words)

despite that, notice how i'm not talking down on jeeps?

and "research" (since searching the internet counts as "research" to you) on non-jeep biased sites (so certainly not RME), will yield thread after thread of guys with fairly new jeeps with problems just like rico9 and I had.

This bickering doesn't have to do with Mad Mike's issue, does it? :D The guy wants to get HIS rig on the road. So, let's help him do that.

You are right and I tried to work that into it a little and I'm absolutely done with this thread which I know will make some people happy.

I do want to weigh in. I have no personal manufacture bias (except Kia). as a matter of fact hopefully my BII will have soon pieces from chevy jeep and ford. The thing that got my dander up was the instant condescension and the superior attitude protrayed. "Ditch it". that was no help to the original post it was only an opinion expressed to a person on here looking for help. ALL manufacturers have plenty of examples of poor designs. That is a problem with forums. as pointed out to me. people thrust their opinion on you with out answering the question asked. I am just as guilty as the next guy. But I do try not to condecend.
There is nothing wrong with a jeep. The after market is strong and varied. The problem is in the attitude of some. They make it hard for others that are cool. What we choose to build is a personal decision. And it should stay that way. I hope no one is offended by this. That was not my perpose. If it did, sorry. Variety is were its at;).
Now back to your regularly scheduled program.

Can't we play nice? :ugh:

edit: I'll re-open and move to chit-chat. I'm a firm believer that all vehicle brands suck. :p

They sold far more BII then jeeps. Of course your going to see more of them.
That is what is nice about driving and wheeling a BII. Not everybody has one.
No they did not find something that works and stayed with it TJDukit. The after market found something that worked and stayed with it. The after market for jeeps is almost as strong as the aftermarket for VW Bugs.
