What a PIA that would be. Beside to many moving parts. Pivot points are weak point. Solid is were it's at. I never expected to hear TTB fans here. The two wheel drive TTBs that are under prerunners are extended. The pivot is moved to the other side of the vehicle. The 4X4 TTB pivot is just of of center. You can get great movement out of it but, it wil still not stuff very well causing your rig to tricycle. Can you say scary.
I never said mine doesn't have "serious mods". I did do a 8.8 swap, 31 spline. The front had a 35 when bought. It now has 4.56 gears. Modified limited slip in the rear. a lockright in the front. 15" extended radius arms. Explorer leaf springs. 3 inch suspension lift, 2" body. 4.0 swap with m50d 5speed tranny. Custom made, by me, rear driveshaft. 33X12.50x15 on 15x10 rims. Interior color changed to black. new carpet. extended transfer case shifter, with a old school B52 skateboard wheel nob. Plexyglass dice shift nob on tranny. Made when I was in 7th grade. And Leather seats. All this was done for $3000. As is sits now.
Taco man. Try looking up things for the BII to upgrade
VW swing arm suspension. Camber compensator.

Sorry Stratton!!! I wish I could say our Ranger project was even cool, its little more than an Explorer disguised as a Ranger...

Back to hating... Illogically even. I hate all Chevy vehicles because of the pile of dung my 84 Celebrity was. Gutless V6, sloppy automatic and all...

I love this thread.

I just now realized why they are called Bronco II's.

2 people like them.......ever, and they both are part of the RME community :D

I have to respect people that like what they like and run it because it works for THEM. Nice job!!

The Zimmerman truck was a great machine but its so much easier to get the same travel in other ways. There are reasons that truck wasn't emulated. But agreed, the Twin I beam (the 2WD version) Rangers usually use F series truck arms, rod ends and more. And most of the work can be applied to TTB as well. Clearancing the third U joint and opening the window allow lots more travel alone. Steering mods are the single best modification and can get costly, even DIY weld kits are $2500 and up. But they are damned near bulletproof. The Dana 44 TTB isn't significantly stronger than the D35, only because they use the same Ujoints in the axles. D50 TTB from the 3/4 ton trucks are odd beasts on their own, different pivots and more. Solid Axle Swaps aren't difficult, but often don't ride as good as the TTB can. Seriously, to make the TTB work well is pricey. SAS can be the cheaper route. I know if I do another RBV, its getting a D30HP...

Yep. I going to go with leaves. I don't want to do coils. Personal preference

Again, if I did a B2, it would be underpowered with the 2.3 and 5 speed I have on hand. I think I can get the thing to sit about stock or even a little lower with a D30 than staying TTB. Even though, I have the D35 we swapped out of the Ranger... So, no, I have no designs on a B2 for a crawler.

Back a few years ago, the rear beat to hell leaf springs were allowing the flex. The front was about the same side to side... This was with Skyjacker 6" front coils. Stiffazell...

Since we swapped in the Explorer leafs last year, I doubt it would be as flexy. Then again, the old springs wouldn't allow carrying a load much or towing a trailer...

You would think that...alright I suppose it's not so terrible.

If anyone gets offended by my hatred of Fords(which is a real hatred BTW) or me joking about hating Toyotas or Sami's...well...I'm sure you are young enough to get over it. If you can't get over it then please realize that I don't hate people in general and will likely give you a chance...no promises though.

Oh no, I've passed the half century mark. I carry that offensive hatred of yours as a life sustaining energy... /Sarcasm... Yeehaw!

I wanted a Sami when they were new back in the 80s, but my first test drive had my left knee wedged where I couldn't roll the window down. And that was before I packed on a few extra pounds. Since it was a bad design, I just decided to hate them. I probably hate Chevies as much as you do Fords. And yet, I tolerate Tacoma...

Thanks! Bought as beater for my son when we lived in SoCal desert. Months after moving here in 2006 I took it out of service for a number of safety issues, and the project snowballed and sat a lot. Last summer, my son decided to strip both the Ranger and his 94 Explorer and swap everything to the Explorer. 4.0> 2.3...

That is a really nice truck. I like it.

I have owned 36 vehicles. The majority have been fords. Of those I had 7 rangers and I am currently driving a 98 explorer. All of my rangers where good vehicles. I didn't really wheel any of them but they did what I needed.
I have always hated toyotas but taco man, Cody and Steve all have cool rigs that i would own. My current wheeling rig is an LJ. It's my second jeep. My last jeep had more issues in 2 years I owned it than all 35 previous vehicles combined. And I'm not joking. But, for some reason I like my jeeps. They are really easy to fix when they break. And yet alway break.
