Those RockCrusher covers are nice and beefy, but can be a bit of a pain to get to seal. The bolts that they come with have a short head on them so that they wont get mangled on the rocks, but that makes it hard to keep a socket on the to get them real tight. Both my dad and my brother put theirs on and came out a few days later to see them leaking. Pulling out the socket set again for a good tighten fixed it, just hard to keep the socket on the bolt for as tight as they need to be.

What stall speed did you end up going with? Were you able to come to a conclusion on what stall speed wouldn't drive thru the brakes with your setup?

I ask because I'm about to order a 2400 RPM converter for my TH350. Want to make sure I'm on the right track, that seems like a high stall speed!

I had my converter special made, and the guys seemed like he new exactley what i wanted. Which was good controll through the power band-lower rpm for crawling, then it freakin locks up like a mother between 24-26 to launce me up some stuff if I lay into it. Sounded good at the time and still does.
I watched him make it and he said he could change it later if I didn't like it. Waspretty cool showed me a bunch of differnt patterns and stators etc welded it right in front of me. pretty old school:cool:

Well I have been making progress but this is my busy time at work and I've been pretty fatiqued. I stripped my dana 70 u last weekend and got some sweet disc brake caliper brackets for it from ruff stuff spec. Gonna cut off the perches tomorrow probably, and I bought my rotors and calipers today. So far complete disc brake setup for under 100 bucks:cool: i mounted the engine and trans about a month ago and set it between the rails to just get an idea where I need to be. I pushed it back as far as I could and measured and it was over 21 inches behind my front axle. It was pretty bitchin, but I think I will settle for about 11 to 12 inches behind the front axle to keep my drivlines good. Also got the stuff to do my mounts all cut up just need to drill them and weld them up.

Thought I would give you guys an update. Finished my rear axle truss, and welded up my rear differential. Also mounted my engine a couple months ago, and I'm starting to get into the front axle.

When do you find time to work. building a buggy, wheeling week-ends and chating on RMe should take up most of your useable hours??

He must be a trust fund baby. :bryson:

Good to see progress, Kiel.

I wish, I can usually spend at least one weekend day working on it for about 6-8 hours. I'm building it at a friends shop about 2 blocks away from my work, so after work I cruise over there a couple days a week and work for a couple hours before going home.

Besides I have about 2.5 days into that truss, but I only have like 12 dollars:greg:

Looks good K.

BTW. I still owe you that engine chain. Will you need it this week? Also, I know it will take a while for you to respond as the basement still has dial-up:greg:
