Can I weld this?

So the last time at the snakes among my many broken parts this seams to have been the cause.

If I weld a bead in there to hold the cap in. Do you think it will hold?

I now have a pinion guard so it should not take an impact like it did when it broke.

Might just be easier to replace the yoke...

Probably but I paid like $80.00 for that pos and I really don't want to mess with the pinion yoke on the 14 bolt. I went through 2 crushsleaves and a breaker bar getting that thing set up for the correct preload.

EDIT: cheston's too fast

I had a similar situation after my rear truss incident. Ended up replacing the yoke and the rear part of the driveline. I'm just anal that way. I did have a 60 though, so didn't have to mess with a 14 crush sleeve.

Had a friends truck do the same thing. We welded a coin into the yoke, nickle or quarter, i cant remember. it held up great. i think hes still running it that way and we fixed it in moab a couple years ago.

Sorry, I've got to vote for replacing the yoke too. You'll be worried about any other fix the entire time you drive it. Luckily, since you now have a guard on it you can fix it right once and be done with it. Is it a 1410 or something that's not available at a junk yard?
